It's so ridiculously kitschy, but somehow that doesn't seem to matter at Dragon Ranch, the latest restaurant from scene impresario Billy Dec and Chef Red Hauge. The kitsch follows you onto the menu, where sections are labelled "fixins" and "niblets." Most of Dec's establishments are all about the scene and not the food, but Dragon Ranch is going full-court press. Home-smoked meats (hickory smoked, for eternity) rub shoulders with homemade ramen noodles served with braised pork cheeks and a sweet potato hash with shallots and chilies. Those moonshine cocktails are made with the restaurant's custom-made White Dragon Moonshine, distilled by Journeyman in Wisconsin. End your meal with a chinese-style almond cookie and marvel at the strange magic that is modern fusion cuisine.
