Tips for Lou Malnati's Gold Coast

1.0
March 19, 2012

Complete Lack Of Service and Pizza. I visited the Gold Coast Malnati's today, and it was absolutely horrendous from start to finish. If this is how they run a business, I am surprised they are still in business. And given it’s their largest store, it is going to have wide repercussions. First, we are told that our thin crust pizza (which normally takes 10-12 minutes everywhere else) would take 30-35 minutes, fine; I understand oven space has to reflect the deep dish pizzas, too. After 40+ minutes, we are told our pizza was dropped on the floor, and it would take 12 minutes to get us a replacement. After 25 minutes, we are told it is just 2 more minutes. After another 15 minutes, we still see nothing. Nothing as in every staff person in the entire restaurant avoided making contact with our table. So it was impossible to ask for the manager. Not that I should have to ask, but the manager is absolutely nowhere to be found. Clearly, I should not use the term manager, since there was a complete lack of management if no one is doing it. And the store was NOT busy. Front room facing street of 6 or so tables are full, but main dining room is 1/3 full when we arrived. Rest of the place is empty. And after first pizza is allegedly dropped, several tables are seated, and they all order deep dish pizzas AND all get them before us. In fact, one of them was already checking out. That is beyond absurd. Someone should show termination papers to the (alleged) manager on Mondays and disciplinary action for the staff for complete avoidance of our table. After all, the Monday staff does not work just Mondays, right?!?!?
