What Our Expert Scouts Are Saying
When we hear "18th century tavern" we think spittoons, gunfights and dancing girls. You won't find any of those at City Tavern. What will you find? An amazing array of rums, madeiras and ports, wrapped up in a beautiful leather and wood package that will change your earlier notions the moment you walk in. This is the way America used to drink - no foppish gins or sparkling rose here. Ok, they have both, but drink the rum anyway. The newest Chicago restaurant from Chef Kendal Duque, City Tavern pairs solid, inexpensive food with an astounding list of rum cocktails unlike anything else in the city. Only one dish costs more than $20, though you might end up ordering three rounds of the awesome deviled farm eggs filled with smoked salmon and topped with tobiko roe.
