Embeya

"Asian Fusion" usually means tame, toned down food meant for people who are easily frightened but like soy sauce. What it doesn't often mean is a restaurant experience that is so interesting it can't be contained by just one cuisine. Embeya is firmly in the latter camp. You've never tasted half the ingredients that Chef Thai Dang has floating around in his kitchen. When was the last time you pulled sea snails right out of their huge shells and popped them in your mouth? Don't be scared - they're delicious! Or feasted on a salad of banana blossoms and royal trumpet mushrooms? Or ate an entire pot of young bamboo cooked with sake and chives? If your dining companion happens to be less adventurous, they have just the think - a garlic chicken with scallion confit that will make the smug risk-taker wish they'd been a little more timid.
