What Our Expert Scouts Are Saying
Casual cafe by day, wine bar and restaurant by night, Local Root is trying (and succeeding) to be all things to all people. The new Streeterville cafe is focused, as the name implies, on serving local and sustainable food, a rarity in the lunch universe. Choose from an array of sandwiches, soups and salads during the day made with free range chicken, La Quercia proscuitto and Black Earth lamb. Stop in for coffee or one of their house-made sodas and spend a leisurely afternoon. At dinnertime, order one of their many varieties of poutine. The cutest of the lot? Bhaa cluck duck poutine, made with lamb sausage, chicken and duck confit. Wash it down with a local craft beer and marvel at how good doing the right thing tastes.

Great for strong Intelligensia coffee
(right next door to a Starbucks no less) and a weekday light lunch or brunch

One of my new favorites for lunch. Try
their salads, which are ample and delicious, and be sure to order one of their house brand sodas.
