Lots of room! Lots of history! Inexpensive cocktails! Bring friends and get there a little early for the perfect set.

Fun time!

by dsines7 at Citysearch

I went there for the first time last night. The atmosphere is fun, and different. Not like any normal movie theatre. It's true, DON'T come here if you want a normal movie experience. But DO come here if you want something new. Before you go, make sure you bring CASH. They don't accept Credit Cards. Also, the seating can be a little uncomfortable for a double feature. Also, get there early to get a good seat. The audience was normal, not rowdy like the other reviews suggest. Also, it wasn't smoky at all... Have fun!

  • Pros: beer. atmosphere. friendly staff. cheap!!!
  • Cons: seating a little uncomfortable

Brew & View rocks!

by alisiia at Citysearch

If you're looking for plush, clean, quiet place to watch a film, don't come here. What I loved about the B&V was its ability to transform a really bad movie (in my case, "Into the Blue") into one of the most enjoyable movie viewing experiences ever. The audience was classic: a bunch of hilarious drunkards shouting commentary at the screen. Expect plastic cups of cheap beer, the occasional flare of a match lighting a cigarette, and a good time.

  • Pros: Audience

Hoist a few while catching a flick with wisecracking friends.

by Contributor at Citysearch

The Scene
Those seeking to share their thoughtful love of cinema with other respectful patrons should probably steer clear of one of Chicago's wilder and more entertaining movie houses (when it's not putting on concerts). The wisecracks flow as freely as the booze, and you must be 18 to get in. When those shouting out comments at the screen have some wit, the Brew & View can be like a communal "Mystery Science Theater 3000." On an off-night for the peanut gallery, it may be time to retreat to another nearby watering hole.

The Draw
Second-run features are the main offering, with occasional revivals of party-film favorites like "Animal House" or "Dazed and Confused." For the most part, the ideal Brew & View movie is one so inconsequential that no one cares when a boisterous crowd drowns out the dialogue. If you embrace the drinks-first, movie-second philosophy, you'll have a blast.

It's smoky and hard to get a good seat, but where else can you drink beer while watching a movie?! This should be on everyone's list for a must visit while in Chicago.

  • Pros: Unique, Cheap, Close to El
  • Cons: , Crowded

this place rocks

The concept of being able to watch a movie at a bar is brilliant. I am surprised more cities do not have brew and views. Go check it out!!

  • Pros: beer
  • Cons: parking is limited

The Best Way to Watch a Movie

by conallo at Citysearch

If you absolutley MUST see first run movies and get ripped off at their unfair prices this is not your place. But for shear movie going pleasure in a GREAT atmosphere this is THE ONLY place to go. Where else can you get to see 2-3 movies at a great price while drinking a beer and having a smoke(not including your own living room)? Not only do they have the standard food fare, but pizza as well. Conviently located just west of the Belmont Red/Purple/Brown line stop, so your just minutes away from anywhere else in the city.

Mystery Science Drinking

by nathanstull_citysearch at Citysearch

I like watching a good, cheesy flick over a pitcher of brew. I found the staff helpful, but it was a little dirty (and had that stale beer smell near the bar). If you want a place for a bunch of friends to meet and have fun, this is it. Also, it's close to the El, for added convenience.
