Avoid the Food, Drinks are great

by nunlikeme

The drinks were really nice and big it was worth the money, the food was over priced and its not enough to feed one person. The service was ok, you had some waitresses turning up there noises and rolling there eyes ( a little unproffessional) but for the most part we would go back for drinks but we would never eat there again. Also there is no air because its on the top level so its pretty hot.

  • Pros: size of drink, atmosphere
  • Cons: food, level, bathroom on the first floor, constant nagging for a credit card, over priced menu

Hyatt Regency Chicago bar that operates on the premise that size does matter.

by Contributor

The Scene
This open-air, mezzanine-level space overlooking the Hyatt lobby boasts the longest free-standing bar on the continent and appropriately massive windows, which afford hard-to-beat views of the Chicago River and North Michigan Avenue. Crowds of downtown professionals and snazzy singles (besides hotel guests) pack the place after work weekdays.

The Draw
More than 1,400 beverage choices (no surprise). The "Big Vine" menu features coastal grape varieties from Oregon and Washington to New Zealand. Other offerings include champagnes, cognacs, whiskeys, extraordinary martinis and cigars; draft beers may be ordered in three sizes: big, bigger and biggest. Big also serves appetizers and desserts nightly. Music video lovers will no doubt love the various flat-screens throughout the space, as well as a large projection screen suspended in the atrium next to the bar.

Quick meals served in a waterfall-accented hotel setting.

by Contributor

In Short
Located in the Hyatt Regency lobby, this cafe features an island that juts toward a 4,000-square-foot reflecting pool. The daily breakfast buffet, which features made-to-order omelettes, is both swank and kid-friendly, in a blue-hued water-fountain setting. Come lunch and dinner, tourists and business diners dine on mozzarella and pesto panini and Thai lettuce wraps filled with marinated chicken and julienned veggies. Other favorites include quesadillas with salsa, guacamole and sour cream on the side.

$70 for four regular sized drinks and an appetizer. Service was not that great, only two bartenders and two waitresses during happy hour. I didnt get to check out the other bars in the hotel, but I definately think this was the most upscale one. Lots of people stright from work

  • Pros: Good Food, Good Drinks
  • Cons: Very Pricey, Service was shoddy

Big view at the Big Bar

by david178

We visit Chicago at least once a year and usually get out every night to explore what Chicago has to offer. We happened to stay at the Hyatt this last time and thought we would start out at the hotel bar. We had such a great time with our bartender, the view, and the people, that we stayed for the rest of the evening.

This probably is not the place to go for dancing or live music, but we thought it was a nice way to spend an evening.

  • Pros: Good Prices, Nice bartenders, Good View
