I love this place. Chicago is a steak town, and this restaurant helps to set the standard. I've been to pretty much every steakhouse in Chicago, and the suburbs. Read on to see how it rates in my estimation.

You expect a good steak in Chicago. That's a given. Stefani's delivers. Here is what I like. The rest of the menu provides you a great dining experience. I had a cup of the lobster bisque to start off. Incredibly rich.

Onto the main course. My filet was prepared perfectly. I like it medium rare and it was very tender. A little bernaise sauce on the side and you should be good to go!

My girlfriend and I split a side of the mashed potatoes. Highly recommend them. Have them every time I come regardless of my entree order.

Service is top notch. The bar area when you enter is open and promotes good conversation.

If you haven't been, I highly recommend Phil Stefani's!! I think it's one of the top 3 steakhouses in Chicago.

Located where the name suggests, 437 Rush (at Hubbard) is Phil Stefani's classic Italian steakhouse featuring everything from an exceptional lobster bisque to succulent prime steak chops. While the food is outstanding here, nothing beat the service of the bartender, Brian, during my visit. Friendly, knowledgeable and overall entertaining, he made my overall experience enjoyable and memorable. I highly recommend spending a happy hour, night out with friends, family dinner, or even a group event at 437 Rush. Ask for Brian and you won't regret it!

My husband and I came here for our anniversary dinner and had a perfect evening out. He had the Prime Kansas City Strip. He ordered it medium rare and it came out perfect. I really enjoyed my Maccheroni Cipriani with shimp. The atmosphere was exactly what we were looking for. There were no children in sight, thank god. We shared the tiramisu for dessert and were blown away. Also, on my way out, I noticed the bar area which seemed perfect for happy hour after work. I will be coming back to this restaurant very soon.

  • Pros: Delicious Steak, Great Ambiance, Excellent Cocktails

I came in last weekend with a group of friends and was completely blown away. The service from the moment we sat at the bar to the time we got seated was amazing. The filet mignon is absolutely delicious, the mascarpone mashed potatoes are sinfully good and the tiramisu is unlike any other I've ever tried. I spoke to a woman about the service and she proceeded to tell me about the history of the restaurant and their private dining accommodations. She then gave all of us, after too many cocktails ;), a private tour of the entire space. It truly was a treat. The servers, bartender & managers made this evening for us. We'll be back.

The Scene
This place oozes old-school country-club ambience, with white-coated servers and bathroom attendants, black-and-white tile floors and rich mahogany walls with framed photos of past Chicago luminaries. A swanky jazz soundtrack mingles with the soft conversational buzz of a 30-something white-collar crowd. Service is excellent.

The Food
Juicy steaks, mammoth lobster tails and the like, served a la carte and priced accordingly, plus a smattering of salads and pasta dishes. Impossibly creamy lobster bisque hides tender chunks of lobster meat; whole romaine leaves are served as a classic, clean Caesar salad; Kansas City strip is as tender as the server claims. Topped with lemon yogurt, the pear tart makes a mouth-puckeringly delightful dessert.

Wonderful service, great ambience! Swordfish Special of the day arrived cold to the touch. Sent back and was returned dried out but warm. Ribeye steak, ordered medium rare, arrived bloody on outside, extremelly cold in the center and most certianly raw. Sent back and came back perfectly cooked. One bite and discovered chef had seasoned, make that overseasoned, with salt. Absolutely inedible. Left steat and swordfish and paid bill in excess of $100.00. Enough said: you have been warned again.

For a "Prime Steakhouse", they are more like a "Select Steakhouse", sure their meat is Prime, but they do not know how to cook it. We ordered the special filet medium-rare and it came out well. Service is very poor as we rarely saw our waiter. I would not go back again.
