Just south of the downtown area, the 31st Street Beach offers excellent views of the Chicago skyline. Amenities include parking, a fishing pier, comfort station, drinking fountain, concessions, playground and a skate park just south of the beach.

I live just a few blocks from this beach and I have always enjoyed coming here. Many nice improvements over the years, including a small skate park! This beach compared to the north side beaches are obvious! Half the crowd, but it is much smaller. Great view of the skyline. Excellent bike/running path that goes north or south.

• Pros: free parking, no crowds
• Cons: small beach area
