We had a really bad experience with the service towards the later part of the evening on a Saturday night. Strolling in late for dinner on Saturday should not be something uncommon, however service was simply neglectful and unattentive. I waited 20 min and the busy waiter did not come by to take my order. When he finally came by he went to another party who arrived 10 min behind us. We are fairly patient and understanding however nothing is as frustrating when your waiter attends to another table of people who came in later than you. We opted to go to another restaurant instead. I dropped 3 dollars down for the diet coke and when we got up the waiter rushed to us and was quite rude. 'Whats the matter?' That is not how I liked to be addressed, but I simply said we waited forever. No apology and no effort to even keep my business. Sorry but many selections just right down the street with far better service and food.
Pros: decent italian food
Cons: slightly on the pricey side. poor service

I have gone to this Roscoe Village establishment several times with my wife and we absolutely love this place. It's quaint, nicely decorated, the food is exceptional, and the service is always outstanding. Even on a busy Saturday night, we were seated promptly for our reservation, had water and bread brought to our table right away, and were waited on by an extremely friendly waitress who was able to answer all of our questions. The food was served hot and tasty as ever. We love this place and recommend it to everyone we know.
Pros: Outstanding service and food!
Cons: None

The pasta at Piazza Bella is fabulous. I had bow tie pasta with chicken, sun dried tomatoes, and mushrooms in a pink sauce. I loved it. My boyfriend had the gnocci, which was also great. If you're looking for a romantic atmosphere, this may not be the place. It's small and the tables are close together, making it rather noisy. There were also a few parties with young children. I plan on coming back though.

From the Ambience to the service, this restaurant is perfect for a date. At the moment you walk in your treated like an old friend, the service is prompt and the food is unbelievably delicious. The wine selection is excellent, the owner is knowledgable and attentive to the needs of his customers. I would eat here everyday if I could.
Pros: Food, Service, Ambience

I love the thin-crust pizza at Piazza Bella. The crust itself is bubbly and crisp--it's thin, but sturdy enough to stand up to the sauce and toppings. And the sauce is deliciously flavorful. Love it. Delivery is a bonus.
Pros: Great thin crust, Good prices

I get takeout here a couple times a month ( I live a few blocks away). Normally I don't rate. But this place deserves a little boost. I have only had nice meals. All the food I've had, I like esp the fried calamari and the taglitlla bolgonease. It's the best I have had in chi town. I eat in sometimes too. Go and when in Roscoe, you'll like it.

We ordered chef's special - chicken breast and pasta alla putanesca. The first one was very bland, just like something you would get at a cafeteria, but it was served with very meditteranean potatoes, ie they were soaked in oil. The pasta was firmly al dente, but it did not arrive with cheese or black pepper, and to get those we had to wait and get the pasta cold unfortunately. Even so, the place was teaming with people, but although we went there prompted by Gourmet magazine mention we would not recommend this place.
Pros: al dente pasta, nice location, seating outside
Cons: bland food, inattentive service, overpriced wine

While this restaurant is only a few years old, they have the quality of service and food down perfectly. It was just written up in OCT 02 GOURMET MAG as one of the best neighborhood restaurants in the US! The other "famous" Italian Chicago restaurants should see how to do it right(I am sure that is how they once started out but forgot). It is also a great place of lunch, especially outside in the summer.
Pros: inexpensive, GREAT FOOD, GREAT SERVICE
Cons: street parking

I'm serious; my Italian grandma sometimes can't cook this well. Everyone in our party got different meals and appetizers. There were three of us. Each of us raved about the others food. What a great place to eat authentic and delicious Italian food. The only negative was that the bus person was not the most polite person Ive ever met. He made us feel like we were not to say, "Thank you" or "Excuse me."
Pros: Easy Parking Weekdays, Great Food, Great Atmosphere
Cons: Bus person
