Tasty tapas
by flynnmoa at Citysearch
I love Twist. I always have an enjoyable experience here. This past weekend I went with 5 friends and we each ordered 2 tapas -- they were all tasty and flavorful. Some of my favorites are the dates, lobster ravioli, mac and cheese (YUM!), the goat cheese, jalapeno gnocchi, and the olives (I'm a big olive fan). The only reason I'm not giving Twist a full five starts is because I don't think their sangria is anything to write home about, and it seemed overpriced compared to other tapas restaurants I've been to. I also want to mention the restaurant is small and they don't take reservations, however they will take your phone number if you want to wander over to Redmonds for a drink while you wait. We were told our wait would be 30-45 minutes on a Saturday night (after a Cubs day game), but they called within 15 minutes. Even if the wait is longer, it's well worth it, in my opinion.
- Pros: Wonderful food for sharing, fast service, friendly wait staff
- Cons: Small interior, can be loud, tables are close to each other, I don't recommend the sangria
Nice to have GOOD Tapas in Wriglyville

"A friend + I made this a destination spot for a Mon. night dinner. The atmosphere was cozy + had an interesting section where u could sit + view the street. The staff was friendly, though could have been slightly more attentive. Our beverages were not refilled as often as we would have liked. The food was good but the escargot + faun stole the show - extremely tasty. This a cafe version of a larger restaurant like Cafe Ba-ba-reeba. I can't wait to go back."
- Pros: Tasty, Well Priced, Nice Location
- Cons: Tight fit/ "cozy"
Absolutely delicious

This is by far the best tapas in Chicago. I recommend the tilapia and bacon wrapped dates, but you won't be disappointed with anything on the menu. The staff is friendly and will always offer suggestions. The resturant is small and you'll probably wait, but it's well worth it.
- Pros: friendly staff, cozy,
Tapas are great..

Great selection of tapas and price. Atmosphere is nice...place is small. Window seating is great to watch crowd walking by.
Super busy, crowded but EXCELLENT tapas

I've never gone wrong with anything on the menu (unlike most tapas joints where the dishes can h i t or miss.) The service is never poor, but they can rarely keep up with the crowds in this tiny bowling-alley shaped space. Best advice is to sit outside, which doesn't have much of a patio, but at least frees you from claustrophobia while you enjoy the delicious food.
Horrible experience

We went there for a girls night out and had a terrible experience! The food was way overdone, the waitstaff were incredibly rude and the tables are so close together it was like we were sitting at the same table with people next to us. I would never go there again.
- Pros: Good Sangria
- Cons: Rude waitstaff, Overdone Food
Great food, horrible owner!!

I had been several times to this restaurant and loved it! The food is great. There are decent options for vegetarians. The desserts aren't so hot, but the goat cheese is amazing. YET!!
THE LAST TIME I WENT WAS HORRIBLE!!
It was a Thursday and they decided to close early. They called last call, so we ordered a pitcher of Sangria. As soon as we got it, the owner started harrassing us. She told us we had to go right after we got the drink. She was so rude I couldn't believed she owned the place. I will never, ever go back.
- Cons: BAD OWNER, RUDE

Tasty Spanish and international tapas share the menu at this popular Lakeview spot.

In Short
Seating in this lively tapas cafe is tight but cozy, with cushioned banquettes, indirect lighting, and massive bifold windows that open to tables on the sidewalk during the spring and summer. The menu offers traditional Spanish tapas, along with some "twisted" (internationally inspired) plates. Spanish standouts include simple grilled calamari with lemon-herb vinaigrette and super-tender grilled beef smothered with a blue cheese crust. International hits are rich grilled salmon with tangy olive-mustard butter and portobello mushroom generously stuffed with fresh crab meat.
Tapalicious

This place is fun if you sit outside. We went to the little theatre next door after the show, had a bottle of wine and sat and people watched for a while. The food is phenomenal, though they might bring all of it out too quickly. Twist is one of my favorite memories of Chicago, maybe it was the company, or the gnocchi, or the Rioja. I'm not sure. It was fun, hip and a nice night. Being foodies from New Orleans, we enjoyed ourselves!
