Yummy on the run

Great soups everyday. Quick and easy to grab and go or stop and enjoy! Indoor and outdoor seating. Get the breadbowl!
- Pros: Flavorful, fast
- Cons: Small restaurant during peak dining times
Best cheap meal hands down

Come in with somewhere around five dollars (in cash) and leave very happy. This soup gallery offers free unlimited bread and a wide variety of soups (and salads) to meet any palate. Samples are free and remember to ask about combinations like potato and leak with broccoli and cheddar or clam chowder with lobster bisk. They are always creative, always friendly, and the atmosphere could not be more relaxing. I take all new comers to chicago to this restaurant and they all want to come back. I simply can not recommend this place highly enough. Even on the extremely rare occasion where I found something wrong with my soup they were extremely accommodating and fixed the problem immediately. Amazing service, amazing food, amazing prices, amazing location what else could you possibly need?
- Pros: price, taste, and service
- Cons: it's not 24 hours and I wish it was, ha.
Overrated Soup

After seeing all the great reviews I had to try the Soup Box. The soup was cold, they were out of the Italian bread. The soup tasted like canned Progresso soup.
- Pros: None
Simple Concept - Excellent Food!

Soup in the summer is weird but it certainly hi+ the spot today for lunch! The pitch is 12 soups made daily. We went with the Lobster Bisque and New England Clam Chowder - both were absolutely better than what you'd find anywhere else. If you want to be normal and celebrate summer, try their flavored ice gelato-ish cold creations. Also made fresh daily, the icy treats are made with REAL fruit - an excellent/refreshing/healtly lunch dessert for a great price!!!
- Pros: Excellent soup and wonderful icy creations!
- Cons: You definitely need to walk here - no parking. Cash only.
Great Soub, so-so Ice

I love the soup selection and the prices are bueno. The bread is also very yummy.
The ice on the other hand is mediocre at best. It's too watery and sugary. It could use a lot more fruit and flavor and much less sugar. It's a good price, but I'd pay more for it to taste better.
I like the neighborhood feel too.
I miss this place!

I was one of the people who was there when it first opened and visited it almost every day. I LOVE THIS PLACE!!! Unfortnately, I moved to the suburbs and there is nothing like it here. I'm still going through withdrawal 5 years later. I wish they would franchise it. It would be a gold mine in the suburban office parks. When friends head into the city, I always tell them to stop by and pick me up something. Miss you guys terribly!!
- Pros: simple menu made great
- Cons: with they would franchise it
Good Soup!!

I travel back-and-forth between Chicago and Colorado on a weekly basis. My hobby in Chicago is finding GOOD places to eat. The SoupBox is one of those places. The soups they make are AWESOME. The staff are always friendly.. Heck - they even tolerated me sitting in there to eat with my Denver Broncos Jacket on!! All soups are great and HOT!! The bread bowl is a great way to enjoy the soup as well as the accompanying "soggy bread" that becomes part of the bowl!!
- Pros: PRICE, QUALITY, CHOICES
reminds me of my gramma

incredibly good soups, staff. We're very lucky to have them here. I could live on soup, but I'm choosy, and The Soup Box is for real-a must go-eat-eat some more-go back every day place!!!!! Can you tell how I feel about this place?
- Pros: soups, staff, ambience
- Cons: none

Soup, Soup, Soup

Soupbox has a great selection of home made soups and I can't say that I've ever had one that wasn't EXCELLENT. It's more than I usually would like to spend on a bowl of soup ($6-7), but at least I can leave with a full warm belly.
- Pros: Home Cooked, Good Selection, Warm
