Good value, not so good service.
Although I am from Chicago, I wanted to stay downtown the night before running the Race to the Taste 5K. I choose this hotel primarily because of the good deal I got (especially reserving the room a
few days prior to arrival).
Hotel location is nice, very close to shopping and food. Hotel staff wasn't friendly or welcoming (especially if they were flustered with phone calls or questions). As others have said, the rooms and hallways are very small (felt very dark and eerie walking around at times). My room had a strange smell...I wanted to say something, but didn't think I would get the best repsonse if I called the unfriendly desk staff).
I would suggest finding other hotels in the city that are more accomodating. However, if you want something that is easy on your wallet and don't plan to stay long, you can give the hotel a shot. Hopefully the service will improve...…
Downtown convenience is the defining factor of this modest Loop hotel..
In Short
The Adams-Clark location puts this boutique hotel right in the thick of the Loop--El tracks included. It's peaceful inside though, with decor leaning on neutral tones, blues and
light greens. The 109 rooms are basic, relegating technology to a computer center. Food comes courtesy of nearby Elephant and Castle, a pub that does English as well as American classics, and serves up plenty of beer and whiskey, but guests can also order from a delivery service that covers a broader base. Business guests, the hotel's main clientele, take advantage of both.…
Very good value and great location.
I agree with the other reviewers, the place is not the friendliest (the monkeys behind the counter are rude enough for me to remember it a couple of years after the fact), the rooms are incredibly
small and there is no minibar. NO MINIBAR! Worse than this, the pub downstairs does not serve anything edible by humans (unless you consider their burgers an acceptable food).
However, the location is great. Complimentary wireless internet is a nice extra, although downloading your email feels a little like sucking a hard boiled egg through a straw. Their gym is OK, at least they have one. The place is clean, practical, and well thought. Excellent value. I liked it. And I stayed there for a week, spending most days working in the room.…
Very small. VERY tiny rooms. Felt like I was in a closet. Complimentary wireless internet is nice. Restaraunt closes way too early. Most amenities are up to guest to find (there's a closet on the floors with extras - irons, towels, extra coffee, etc). Automated check-in out is not a bad idea (like an ATM machine). Having no minibar in room really sucks…
Stay far away from this place.
If you value your bags and your personal possessions, do not stay in this hotel. The staff is a rude bunch of monkeys who are more concerned with their personal phone calls then where your bag might
be. It doesn't seem to matter if you have a tag on you bag and a matching claim ticket because they have already give your bag to someone else.
Its been 3 weeks now and I still have no bag. You would think they would offer to compensate me wouldn't you...…
