I cannot even remember the first time I went to the Ramova Grill. All the fun in this place is stepping back into time and just enjoying a good part of Bridgeport's heritage. If this place was remodeled the whole aura would be lost. The signs on the wall with the price of the Chili written on a blackboard just gives you a feeling of all the Chicago greats have been in here.

The Chili is fantastic and it tastes like it did right in 1959 and when you eat there you get this sense of mind that you are looking out the window looking at 1949 Mercurys and 57 Chevies. It is like a time warp. The booths as you walk in the booths are on your left and stools on the right. The cook and grill is situated right by the window and the smell of frying eggs and aroma of Burgers are in the air. This is not the place to go if you are an arrogant yuppie, this is a place for real people in the real world so poser's need not go there. And if you start bragging about New York and how fantastic it is, move on. This is Brideport PAL!

When you order a burger and fries that is what you will get and fast. Prices are great and a five dollar bill will even go a long way. You don't even have to ask for water. It is a good place to walk in and just read the newspaper and enjoy a cup of coffee. The Ramova Grill is great and Bridgeport would never be the same without it.

  • Pros: Good simple Greasy spoon type restuarant with quality and great Chili.
  • Cons: What you see is what you get and there is nothing bad to say about this place.

This place is awesome... best food, best service, owners are there all the time. My favorite is the butt steak and eggs, liver & onions and of course the chili. Love the atmosphere, diggin' the menu on the chalkboard. You've got to try the fresh squeezed orange juice. Love it, love it, love it. I have three generations going there next week for lunch. I have a list of people to bring chili home to... EAT AT RAMOVA GRILL!!

OH the pancakes rock too!!

I work in the south loop area and my coworkers and I are on a two month mission to eat at and rate 40 local ?lunch? restaurants. Today we dined at Ramova Grill.

First the good: there is plenty of street parking (meter .25), the service was good and the prices are fair. $3 for a small bowl of chili and $1.50 for a hamburger.

Now the bad: I had the signature dish which is the chili without beans. All members of our group agree this chili is terrible. In fact, all the food was bad. We read a prior review and understood before arriving it was out dated decor, which did not concern us, but this was one of the dirtiest restaurants I have eaten at.

I would not recommend Ramova Grill and I am baffled at the 4 ? star rating.

  • Pros: Parking
  • Cons: food, cleanlyness

Been going here since I was a kid, and this place is about as Southside as it gets (i mean this in a good way). You'll find down to earth servers and patrons here. It's an older restaurant, so don't be surprised by the out-dated decor; but that's what makes it great! The chili here is amazing, the best I've ever had. Also, there is something about the burgers that I love. The prices are great, you need to stop in!

  • Pros: Great Bridgeport atmosphere.

Old-school diner dishes out the classics: chili, burgers and all-day breakfast.

Ramova Grill is a staple in the Bridgeport area. It is a quick and cheap place to go for a good bite to eat. It is exactly what the name says- grill. That's it nothing fancy, nothing pricey - just good, cheap food.

  • Pros: fast food, inexpensive, outdated looking
  • Cons: no parking, outdated looking
