So, I am NOT a girly-girl; for all of my life my hair has been lucky to get a cut twice a year. Every time I got a cut I'd go to a different salon, never the same place twice because I was never comfortable with the fru-fru stylists or clientele. But going to the laid-back, smaller places left me with a blah hair-style. When I moved to Evanston I searched for a stylist that was close to home. I found Trio and reading the reviews I thought, "Ok, another fancy salon with super trendy stylists and customers." But they were close and highly recommended, so I resigned myself to an hour of feeling weird and unglamorous in a room full of beautiful people. All I can say now is "I LOVE ROBYN!" She gave me the absolute best cut I had in my life and she has not disappointed me since. She is super cool, friendly, does a fabulous job with my hair, and doesn't push products or services on me. She held my hand through 3 haircuts before I finally decided I wanted to chop it all off in a new shorter style and I LOVE it! I think it was awesome that she was so patient with me and was totally cool when I backed out a couple of times! The place is small and comfy feeling. The receptionist and all the stylists are nice without the fakeness. Robyn makes me feel really comfortable, not weird at all, so I actually get my hair cut every couple of months. And I even feel a little glamorous when I leave there...Amazing!
Pros: Super nice stylists, great haircuts, Sunday hours, online appointments
Cons: Parking kinda stinks, a little bit pricey but worth it

I have lived in Chicago since 1991, and looked for a hairstylist for the majority of that time (in Lakeview, Lincoln Park, Gold Coast, Old Town, Andersenville, Wicker Park, Bucktown, St. Ben's, Lincoln Square, South Loop, Near North..even Skokie!) ever since. Luckily, I tried Trio in Evanston about ayear and a half ago, and the gods put me with Robyn. And I've been thrilled ever since! Robyn gives the best, most precise cuts I've ever had in my LIFE! (And I've had approximately 288 haircuts since I started paying for them myself at age 15.) My hair grows out incredibly well, the products she uses and recommends (without being a product pusher) are always perfect, and she's just a super-sweet girl, too. I love talking to her. I can't recommend Robyn highly enough...she rocks!

Trio Evanston is hands-down the best salon I have been too--professional without pretense. I've been to lots of other "first-rate salons" in Boston, Michigan, and Amsterdam, but most of them have been expensive factories. My experiences at Trio have been consistently positive and worth every penny. Curly-haired or wavy-haired girls should definitely ask for Robyn, who has a way of transforming my long natural curls into perfect ringlets. And she does it without overloading on products, because she really knows how to cut and style thick, curly hair. Whatever issues I have with my hair when I walk into the salon, Robyn always knows the remedy. Barbara, my colorist, is also fabulous! She lightens my dark brown hair without making me look like a blonde. She really does a great job weaving the color in so that it looks natural, but noticeable. I *highly* recommend both Robyn and Barbara.
Pros: The service is great, and they play great music.
Cons: Watch out for parking tickets on the side streets in the area.

I just got my haircut at TRIO and I absolutely love, love it!! My stylist was Robin. She is such a talented stylist. I have not had an awesome haircut for awhile and I have to say that I love the haircut that Robin gave me. It is the nicest haircut of all the haircuts I have ever had. I would say that I am a bit crazy about having the perfect haircut, and Robin has ended my search for the perfect haircut and stylist. She is professional, fun, and does not try to sell any hair products to you at all like other salons I have been to. The atmosphere at Trio is fun. Robin listened to what I wanted. At trio, they use amazing products on your hair. Thanks, Robin! I will be back.
Pros: Best haircut in town, very fun, easy-going, and hip

I recently moved to Evanston from the East Coast and have been using Trio in Evanston for all my hair needs. What I really like about the salon is that their stylists develop expertise in either color or cutting - and the training shows! Jessica, a new member of their color team, is wonderful. She is patient, open to input and experimentation, and is very willing to listen to what I have in mind and then make her recommendations based on her experience. And Edda is a great stylist for cutting - very precise and also open to input. What is so nice about Trio is that there is not the "ego" that other high-end salons are so known for! I am pretty particular about my hair, and would say that I am the high end of the "hard to please" spectrum. But Trio is doing a pretty good job so far!

When I moved back to Chicago after 20 years away, I was in desperate need of a new stylist. I searched the Web for reviews of salons ;in the area and came across Trio. I then called the Evanston location and asked "Who's your best cutter?" I thank all my lucky stars that I was introduced to Rosa -- because she really changed the way I feel about my hairstyle. She is the consummate professional -- creative, meticulous, highly skilled. She's truly an artist -- a sculptress with scissors. The very first time she cut my hair I was shopping in a store afterward and a woman came up to me to announce that she was a stylist herself and "Your cut is fantastic!" When one stylist compliments another -- totally unbidden -- that's a resounding endorsement. I look forward with great anticipation to every visit I make to Trio for another stellar cut by Rosa!

I just got my color done & I love it! Jessica for Trio in Evanston is soooo creative! I am a creative person who kind of knows what I like to see but so really guided me though my options . I ended up with a cool "panel "of color as she called it on the side of my head. People love it & ask me where did I go! I am telling them to go to Jessica ! She Rocks!
Pros: creative ,cool, friendly staff
Cons: Pricey but worth it.

It was my first visit at TRIO after moving into the area. I was a little nervous and who wouldn't be after leaving a colorist of 5 years. I saw Jessica for my color and she was very welcoming and warm. She made me feel very comfortable in her hands. Her consultation with me was very thorough and she made sure that I understood what she would be doing with my color by explaining it in terms I could understand. My color turned out awesome, probably due to how well she listened to my expectations. Some stylists dont care what you want and just do whatever they feel like. Not at TRIO. Very welcoming and so NOT pretentious. I really recommend this salon if you are someone that wants a proffesional and well educated stylist and colorist without the "know it all" attitude.
Pros: definatly get what you pay for, parking, they'll even order you lunch from Jilly's Cafe from across the way if you're hungry! So hospitable!

My first experience with coloring my hair came at the tender age of 16 when I willingly agreed to let my two best friends paint highlights on my hair, each doing one side -- you can imagine the result. Needless to say, that I learned then and there that this is a job for a professional and only a professional! I have been searching for that professional colorist for over 20 years and I finally found her at Trio. Her name is Jessica and she has been coloring my hair for the last year. I love how she has been able to cover my grey while giving me a natural look. My natural color is dark blonde and Jessica adds highlights and lowlights to make my hair look fabulous. Since she has been doing my hair I consistently get "glowing" compliments from my friends, coworkers and folks I don't even know. Wow - not only does my hair look great but my ego is feeling pretty good too! If your are looking for a great colorist -- checkout Jessica at Trio - Evanston - she's fab!
Pros: great salon - wonderful staff
Cons: parking

How does my hair resemble the enviable curly tresses of a pre-raphaelite model rather than those on the top of a Standard Poodle's head? I have my hair cut and styled by Robyn at Trio Salon in Evanston. I have spent years and an embarrassing amount of money to find a stylist who can give my thin, naturally curly hair style, body and the perfect spiral curls I see in the magazines -- and still be able to achieve the same look at home with no muss and no fuss in between visits to the salon. Finally, I found Robyn and have never been disappointed. Sometimes I would find a stylist who I could count on for a few good cuts and then would fail me. But not Robyn. She is amazing. And for five years now, I have never had a bad or even so-so cut. I have also learned that many stylists will say it is the product, not the cut -- but they are wrong -- it is the cut. Anyone in the hair business will tell you that if a stylist can successfully cut curly hair, they can provide exceptional cuts for any other kind of hair. Robyn is also one of the most genuine, warmhearted, and kind people I have ever met; and, I really enjoy talking with her. What more could you want from a stylist? Nothing. So if you are looking for an exceptional cut and want your hair to look like a million bucks without paying that amount, hotfoot it to Trio in Evanston and book with Robyn.
Pros: everything
Cons: nothing
