Awful, awful Serivce, Terrible food
by kelly103 at Citysearch
I went to Sushi Samba for the first time with a group of friends last weekend. All of us were extremely underwhelmed. The service was terrible. Our waitress was no where in sight most of the evening and we had to flag her down to order more drinks. And then she was rude. Being a waitress at a trendy place does not make you cool. Being surly will not earn you a tip. Unfortunately, the food was just as bad as the service. My sushi was bland and fell apart when I tried to pick it up. Overall, Sushi Samba was a huge disappointment, a waste of an evening, and an enormous waste of money.
If you are looking for a trendy scene with good food, try Japonais.
- Pros: none
- Cons: service, food, price, I could go on and on....
very pricey bad food

This is a very cool place very trendy with lots to look at. That is the best compliment I can give sushi samba rio. I made a reservation for 5 people and when we arrived they had lost our reservation. Instead apologizing or anything close to it we were seated very quickly ?felt rushed ? at what seemed to be the worst possible table in the restaurant. As I said the ambiance was very cool would be a fun place to come on a weekend for some drinks and maybe a few appetizers, but that?s it. Our waiter was very nice tried to help as best he could in recommendations, but overall the food was just bad. I had the tuna ceviche and all I could taste was onions and jalape?o and I am pretty sure onions weren?t even supposed to be in it. I also tried the samba rio roll which was horrible. All I could taste was cucumber and bad cucumber at that. All of my guests had similar experiences with their food as well little or no taste. The worst part of the dinner came when the bill arrived. WAY TO EXPENSIVE!! So not worth the money. If you are looking for a cool place to go for ambiance and a few drinks by all means go have fun, if you are looking for a decent meal I would go to burger king before I would ever go here again.
- Pros: fun ambience
- Cons: bad food sevice drinks and pretty much everything else

I went to Sushi Samba with a few of my friends last weekend and not one of us like it. The sushi was really bad-- it smelled and tasted murky. Nothing we ordered was on par with the prices. This stuff tasted like half-off sushi from Jewel. If that wasn't bad enough, the service was a joke. Rude, snotty and unattentive. I will never go back.
- Pros: location
- Cons: food, service, prices, basically everything
Possibly the worst service I have ever received
by footera52 at Citysearch
I am from Denver and my friend and I decided to check out this restaurant, due to the fact that Sushi X was closed for a private event that evening. We were able to sit outside on the patio which was nice, but......that was about the only nice thing about the evening. The girl who "waited" on us (I say that with extreme hesitation) was AWFUL. We were there for about an hour and a half and saw her maybe 3 times and that was only when we could flag her down. The sushi was nothing to rave about. I ordered the chef's inspiration and she came out with salmon, yellowtail, tuna, shrimp......what is so inspiring and different about that????? The coke came in what looked like to be an 8 oz glass and we were charged $3 for each one we ordered!!!! Everyone around us was asking for the waitress wondering where she was and then she had the nerve to respond very rudely to some customers wanting her attention. Unbelievable. She was unapologetic. I have never in my life left less than 10% on the tip, but this time called for it. I also left her a note on the receipt. What a tacky place.
- Pros: NOTHING
- Cons: EVERYTHING
TERRIBLE--twice!
by k8tg at Citysearch
I have given Sushi Samba a try twice, and each time it was terrible. Shame on me for giving them a second chance. The food was almost inedible--poorly prepared and not fresh at all.The service was slow, surly and uniformed. Why is this place still open? As for the scene, it is all old men and cougars on the prowl--or people from Naperville trying to experience the big city. Awful. I can recommend NOTHING about this restaurant.
- Pros: ummmm....none
- Cons: expensive, food, service, scene

Not worth the price
by ronejay at Citysearch
If you're looking for overpriced so-so sushi and want to be robbed like a tourist, this is the place for you. Otherwise stay away. Sushi is mediocore and waaaaay overprice. We went in around 12:45 on a Saturday, being the only customers we were seated promptly. Our waiter was attentive in the beginning, but when he has 2 other tables to serve, we have to try very hard to get his attention. Takes him 20 minutes to bring the check, and another 20 minutes to return to collect my credit card.
Service with an attitude
by jhammack at Citysearch
Like your sushi with poor service and lots of attitude? Sushi Samba Rio is the place for you. Servers decide which patrons are worth their attention and which aren't. Lot's of gossip and talk at the prep station with little actual food moving to the customers. But hey - you're lucky to be easting here, right? Wrong. This is one restaurant that deserves to go under the knife. There aren't many places that I would make a point of telling patrons to avoid, but this is one of them. Average, overpriced food, neglect and attitude from servers who's lack of attention to their customers' needs is just plain rude - do youself a favor and keep your distance.
- Cons: service, service, service
