Love this Steak Joynt. Years ago i went to this place and loved it but simply could not afford to go there often. A few weeks ago my wife and i went there and it was simply succulent. The steaks were cooked to perfection and the bottles of wine are very cheap cheap but of good quality. I highly advise people try this place out under the new ownership, the food is so cheap and the atmosphere is very romantic.

This place is AWESOME. Overall, this place is one of the best steakhouses i personally have ever been to, it is very reasonably priced and serves the primest of meats i have come across even comparable to wildfire. The martinis are very tasty and this place is definitely worth going to. The best part about it is you can go there on a night out with your girlfriends, or you can even go there with your family with a business casual attire. I would definitely give this place a shot!!!

much much better. so, i used to go in this place and the service and food had steadily declined. i suspect that it was a managerial problem as this summer it went under new ownership and seems to be MUCH better. the menu is different, and while it's missing some of the things i used to love, it has others that i NOW love, so go figure. also, the prices have been dropped and steaks seem to be of much better quality. one more thing is they used to play the same what seemed like four frank sinatra songs over and over and over. music is more to my liking too now, being more like an ambient lounge mix. overall, a very good experience...

Don't be fooled. First things first: DONT BE FOOLED. This place does not serve USDA Prime steaks. They may advertise "prime steaks", but nowhere on the menu or on the premises will you see anything advertising USDA Prime steaks. If this isn't clear enough, check out the menu. The "Twin Filets" are two 4 oz filet mignons $25 plus or minus a couple bucks (I forget). Nowhere in the country can you buy USDA Prime steak that cheap. Another example: I had a 15 oz Filet Mignon for $38. If it were USDA Prime, I would expect it to be double that price for such a large filet.

Now, be that as it may, my 15 oz Filet Mignon was quite good. I order it with the homemade bearnaise sauce and was very satisfied. I think without the sauce it would have been a little lacking in flavor, but that's typical of filet mignon and it wasnt advertised as marinated or seasoned in any way. I was amazed at how well they cooked such a monster piece of steak. It was like the size of a softball, but cooked exactly to my liking.

My fiancee's 16 oz porterhouse is another story: An absolute disaster. Cooked the way she ordered it on the inside, but gray color on the outside. Gristle on the sides. Very small section of filet, and the strip side was very fatty. Not good marbleing, very thin, and overall it just looked like a discount volume pakced steak. A huge disappointment and rip off for $30.

The appetizers consisted of ritolo and bacon wrapped scallops with an applewood sauce. Both were a perfect 10/10, no complaints.

The sides were steamed broccoli, baked macaroni, and garlic mashed potatoes. All of the sides were $6 and were not worth their price in my opinion. They were cooked fine. Honestly, the broccoli was good, but the mashed and macaroni were nothing special. Granted we were full, since we are steak first, so we didnt finish most of the sides, but definitely not worth $6 a piece.

The waiter was great, no complaints. When we checked in, they did not have our reservation, which I dont know why because we made it the night before. No worries though, because they had maybe 6 tables in use. This was a sure fire sign that we were not in a great place, since it was a Saturday night at 7:30pm.

The place advertises itself as a 50's era club, so I dont know what's with the leopard print cloths in the booths. Also, if I can make just one complaint in the atmosphere/ambience department it would be this: PAPER TABLE CLOTHS. The definition of tacky. And to add insult to injury, they place it on top of the white linen cloths. We had a nice newspaper style crumbling noise to go with our dinner everytime we moved.

Overall, the place tries to hard to impress and leaves with a sense of "I overpaid and got underserved." Again, the waiter was fine, but the overall experience left us not wanting to return again. Should have heeded the other reviews.

The Best Fish Ever. I was there on Friday and had the best expierence ever!!!! The fish was absoltuely fabulous.....and I am not one for fish! The presentation of the food was brillant and the sides were ooh sooo good!!! There was about 8 of us in my party and eveyone had the fish fry and everyone left full and satisfied but still wanting more.....I can not say enough good things about the restaurant, the staff and everyone there. You can bet we will be there every friday because that's how great it was!!!

Great FOOD, Great DRINKS, Great FUN.....Who could ask for more!!!!

Spoiled fish - need I say more???. We came there for dinner on Friday and had an awful experience of it. My husband had a great portabello sandwich, and i ordered the fish fry. My first order came with burned, obviously reheated potatoes and 2 of the 3 pieces of fish were spoiled. Waiter didn't apologize and ignored my request to speak with the chef, or to have the chef taste what I was sending back as I wanted to be discreet. He brought 2 more pieces of fish (didn't even offer fresh potatoes or a clean plate and fork), and one of THEM was spoiled as well. I used the bread plate and my husband's fork because he disappeared. Luckily I didn't eat enough of the spoiled fish pieces to get very sick from it, but did fight with a stomach ache for a good 24 hours from it, and yes, it was from the fish, not the flu - I'm a nurse, so I know the difference. No adjustment on the tab either, which would have a good thing to do to save face on an ugly situation. They even were aware that we were considering them for a group dinner for 20 people and were there to scout them out!

Great Experience!!!. We had dinner for 12 and then threw a party for over 125 people right after dinner! The manager and employees were very accommodating! Service was excellent and the different room available for people with different tastes was very refreshing! They have a room big enough for over 100 people to stand and socialize, they have swank for people to dance and enjoy a martini as well as the main bar for others to belly up to the bar! Seemed to have something for everyone! It was a nice experience.

100 South Steakhouse in Elmhurst. My husband and I went to 100 South last night. We used to dine there at least once a month but the food quality had gone downhill over the last few years and we stopped going all together. Hoping that the food qualtiy had improved, we tried it once again. It had not. Food came out cool or slightly warm. We had to send food back twice for reheating. Steaks were grizzley and no taste- Both of us were disappointed. 100 South is overpriced and the food quality is poor. We werent surprised that there were a lot of empty tables. Staff was nice last night , but we had had problems in the past with poor service.

Very disappointing. I had the misfortune of dining at 100 South recently, live in Elmhurst and after all the hype about how good this place is was excited to check it out. Went on the early side, as we were heading downtown afterwards for a show, heard about the "early bird" specials, which is always good news when checking out a new place with folks on a budget. The entire restaurant smelled of stale smoke which was the first turn off, next was our horrible waiter, we had to go get our own "early Bird" menus because neither the waiter or the hostess brought them when asked. Waiter was sarcastic and disrespectful to my mother when she could not read the menu (very dark/no lights) We all decided to order from the special menu, as it was so early and we were on a time crunch, waiter showed genuine disappointment that we did, and failed to ask regarding our "sides" requests, we had to bring up....he then remarked...."well No one ususally orders from this menu anyway, so I am not used to it". What he is not used to is courtesy. All of us finished our cocktails before our meals arrived and there was no offer to get us another drink or a glass of wine until our meals were finished. The busboy actually reached over my mother's plate and instructed me to hand him my plate, verses coming to my side of the table. We were looking for a good meal, a nice bottle of wine, and a decadent desert with espresso. We ate an ok meal, and left. Enjoyed our desert somewhere else where the service and atmosphere was much more pleasant. The restaurant was nearly empty at the time we were there, so our lack of service was not a result of a staffing issue. We won't return, and we won't recommend to our neighbors and friends in town.

Good Steak Joynt. Not sure this is a "hip" place, even for Elmhurst, but it was a good steakhouse. Like Morton's, Ruth Chris etc they provide huge portions of everything for example sides and dessert..so order to share. Note just about everything is ala carte, including sauces. I have tried the cognac peppercorn which was good.

Steaks are usually well prepared, intersting wine list with multiple selections of Gaja which I did not expect. High corkage, $20 and unlike many other restaurants they don't waive it if you buy one of their bottles as well....not a deal breaker though.

Service was good, not as effecient as you would see at the aforementioned steak houses, although not as aloof either.

Bottom line: Good not great and similar in value to the chains
