We can't wait to come back!

We chose Le Titi de Paris to celebrate my husband's birthday. From the minute we arrived we were made to feel that we were amongst friends. Pepe, our waiter, took it upon himself to make sure my husband felt he was the only person to ever have had a birthday! There are no words to describe how wonderful the food was. We ordered a multi-course dinner. There wasn't a course we didn't enjoy. Everything looked almost too beautiful to eat. Pepe knew exactly what drink enhanced our dining experience. Finally, as if the dinner could be topped, my husband was brought a desert that we will never forget. On the plate in chocolate were the words Happy Birthday with my husband's name. Congatulations Chef Maddox for making this one of my husband's best birthdays ever!

A shadow of its former glory - we miss you Pierre

Under Pierre Poulin, Le Titi was one of the greatest french restaurants we've ever been to. However, it has really fallen in quality. The ambiance is still there, and the staff is still friendly, but both the food and the service has really fallen. The food used to be incredibly fresh and cooked to perfection, it was related to the seasons, and the recipes had ingredients that really complimented each other.

Some of the current combinations of ingredients defied logic. It almost seems like the chef lacks confidence in the ingredients. Unfortunately that wasn't surprising since the item that the waiter recommended, the filet, was very tough despite being drastically undercooked. I like rare and medium rare steaks, but this wasn't even rare. Unfortunately the appetizer of rabbit was just as undercooked.

On the plus side, the souffle' was outstanding, but since my wife ordered it with dinner, the waiter vanished and never gave me an opportunity to order a desert. My wife also ordered coffee and it wasn't brought until well after her desert was done, even though we asked for it to be brought straight out. We're definitely not upset with the waiter because there was a nearly full house on a Saturday night and only two waiters for the whole place.

So unfortunately, less-than-fresh ingredients, miscooked food, over-stressed service, and questionable menu selections have really seen the fall of one of the greatest restaurants ever. Pierre - you are truly and sorely missed.

Traditional French Fare

What's Good: Traditional French fare in a beautiful quiet dining room, romantic. Had the Mini-Gourmand - chicken and pork were very good+ ( not quite excellent ). Trilogy dessert very good. Plenty of 1/2 bottles of wine offered. Friendly and attentive staff with a visit from Chef Maddox. Free Parking.

What's Not Good: Trilogy Mushroom appetizer tasted common. Wine list is over priced - They offer ($50) a wine membership which includes hefty discounts. That's fine, but it doesn't promote recruitment of new diners. Chef's gift ( assorted sweets ) was exactly the same as a high end Mich. Ave restaurant.

Had to agree with the last reviewer.

Overall a good value, and a better value without the wine list.

A refreshed, less formal version of the Northwest suburban French favorite still cooks up classic haute cuisine.

The Scene
A mature crowd frequents this quaint free-standing oasis with plush booths and wall murals in a pastel grapevine motif. Formal service has relaxed to a more casual, though less efficient, style.

The Food
Owner Michael Maddox's (original owner Pierre Pollin's protege) menu reads in a lighter, user-friendly format, though his French fare consists largely of traditional preparations and rich sauces. Velvety lobster bisque is as creamy-decadent as butterscotch pudding; a starter of braised short ribs melts in the mouth with balsamic-grilled onions and truffle-tinged potatoes. The sauce is a bit heavy on the traditional Dover sole amandine, but a hearty game trio titillates with venison in puff pastry and red wine reduction, pheasant sausage spiked with green peppercorn sauce and tender quail with sweetbread stuffing and mushroom sauce. The sorbet, torte and pot de creme components of the "chocolate symphony" harmonize nicely, overshadowing an odd, chewy fold of unpleasant-tasting chocolate.

My boyfriend and I have enjoyed many wonderful dinners at Le Titi. It is by far one of the best french restaurants in the Chicago area. Pierre and his team create dishes which are culinary masterpieces and the service is supurb. You won't be disapointed!

Great service, good food

We went to try Le Titi for Valentine's day and they had a 5 course price fix menu for $60 which I though was decent. The caramelized onion and the braised duck were okay. The beef steak was good but not too special. I loved the Chocolate dessert though. It was one of the best chocolate cake I ever tasted. The environment was quiet, good for talking. If you want to be romantic, reserve a spot by the fireplace. The service was great, everybody was very polite and they were all experienced. The crowd was older so if you are looking for a hip, younger crowd, this is not the place.

Excellent Haute Cuisine

My wife and I are both devotees of gourmet cuisine, and recently visited Le Titi for the first time. The atmosphere is pleasant, though nothing extraordinary, however the service staff is excellent, being helpful, prompt, and almost invisible in their passing.

We ordered the menu gourmand (6 courses which must be ordered by the entire table) and the wine flight (wines paired by the sommelier to match each course) and were blown away. This is some of the best French food you will find in the suburbs.

Best money spent eating out!

Worth every penny you paid for! Prices are considered average Good French Restaurant prices, but you get a good portions of the BEST of the BEST well-prepared & quality food you've ever eaten. It's gonna be the best money you ever spent eating out!!
