Great pizza!
by olie89 at Citysearch
Ate here after reading about it on Citysearch - great pizza and we really liked the casual atmosphere! Watched the Cubs game while we waited for our food and loved the pizza. We will definitely go here again when we are in Chicago.
Local legend has been serving up scrumptious thin-crust pizzas for more than 30 years.

In Short
Families and couples order at the counter and wait for their numbers to be called, sinking into wood tables and benches and sipping brews picked up at the bar. The thin pies are hand-tossed and topped with gooey cheese, moderately spicy sauce, and standard ingredients like pepperoni, sausage, mushrooms, green peppers and onions.
Good Pizza for carry out
by patches24 at Citysearch
The pizza here is the best around and the price is a good deal. The inside dinning is family friendly but loud and they really need to update the decor. I've been coming here for years and nothing has changed. So my advise do a carry out and enjoy at home. The sandwiches are good also.
- Pros: great pizza, good price, kid approved
- Cons: bad decor and noisy
Bad pizza, bad food.

This pizza joint seemed to cater to families and not worry so much about the food. The restaurant appeared to have an older feel, as if the decor had not been updated in 30 years. We ordered a salad, cheese sticks and a vegetarian pizza. Barnaby's only offers thin crust pizza, which is typically fine. The salad was ordered with the Italian dressing and was one of the worst salads I had ever eaten. I dont know if the salad dressing was bad or if it was the lettuce, but it was not edible. The cheese sticks seemed like the typical frozen sodexho variety. The pizza was edible but not much better. Overall, this was a lousy experience. Spend the extra time and make a trip downtown to a real pizza joint.
- Pros: none
- Cons: bad food
Great Za, Noisy place,cold beer
by CWHY at Citysearch
This place reminds me of pubs at college. Wooden booths, loud overall "ambience", dark and smoky.
But, after trying SO many pizzas, we are convinced that this wins a top rating in the thin crust category. Cornmeal bottom and a good crunch to it...uummm. No delivery though, so you are relagated to dining in (with likely 3 neighborhood little league teams and a 9 yr old birthday party) or picking up your za and peeling out of the parking lot-most of the other patrons do. But we can't seem to not want this pizza all the time...
- Pros: great pizza, cold beer, come as you are
- Cons: often many loud kids, self serve, no delivery
Get over it:the 70s are over!
by ppiszek at Citysearch
Perhaps my experiences at Barnaby's have been marred by the Des Plaines location like a previous reviewer here. Nevertheless, the service at the Niles location was marginally better. What bugged me the most was the lack of flexibility with their menu (no slices!). All of the items that I've tried (including their pizza) were very ordinary. The atmosphere is loud and that spells disaster when you order and are then told to listen for your number. (my number was passed over 2 of the 5 times I've tried this place!) Barnaby's one bright spot is that is seems to be a safe place for families with young children. One final suggestion, the 70s decor badly needs to be scrapped!
- Pros: child-friendly, 70s style pizza place
- Cons: dungeon-like decor, horrible service, mediorce food at best
