I had tried on about 35 dresses at various other boutiques in Chicago.... and always ran into the same problem. No one listened to me. I would say no strapless dresses and no very full skirts. Everyone kept bringing me exactly what I didn't want. Went to Doris's and felt like my Mom's best friend was there helping me along. Annette, is absolutely superb. And when she asks you what you are looking for in a dress - she actually listens. She talked to me for about 15 minutes before she went back into the recesses of her dress vault. When she returned with six dresses - I was excited to try each of them on. Finally found "the ONE". Fittings have been excellent and Annette really knows what she is doing. The dress looks better on each time. The service is worth the drive from the city out to the North. You will not be disappointed! All alterations are done in house.
Pros: Individual service, alterations in house.
Cons: Drive from the city.

I had my bridesmaids get there dresses from Doris. We were given great suggestions and service. They are completely on the ball and very kind. I have never heard anything negative about this boutique. If you don't feel like being stressed go to Doris.
Pros: Service, selection
Cons: Location maybe

My mom and I were planning on visiting numerous bridal shops, but Doris was conveniently located near where we live so we thought we would try it out first. We did not need to look any further! The selection of bridal gowns and bridesmaids dresses was very extensive as was their selection of veils, headpieces, and accessories. Laura helped me find my perfect gown according to my specifications and had a very good eye for what I might like. If you live on the North Shore, don't skip Doris and go straight into the city. They have such beautiful dresses and as a bride, I wanted my perfect dress. I found it at Doris... check it out!
Pros: Selection, one on one service, by appointment only, one stop shop
Cons: Exterior may turn you off.... Please go inside!

I can't even begin to tell you how much better Doris is compared to all the other bridal shops I went to. Laura was my consultant and working with her was like working with my favorite aunt. She was warm and friendly and really listened to my likes and dislikes about each dress to help me find the perfect one. She has a great eye for what silhouettes and colors (shades of white) are flattering and what veils look best with the different styles. Laura was very efficient, but I never felt rushed. This might seem like a small thing, but I really appreciated that she didn't leave me in the dressing room standing around in my underwear for long periods of time the way other shops did. I also really liked that they have a big mirror behind you so that you can see your dress from all angles. At other places you only have a hand mirror to see the back. Doris Bridal Boutique has a much bigger selection of dresses than you would guess from their size, including many new 2007 styles. I was looking for a lace sheath and Doris had so many more than anyone else, including the larger bridal shops. I looked elsewhere, but they didn't come close to the service and selection at Doris. I ordered my dream dress from Doris Bridal Boutique and I'm really excited to work with them on the fittings and other details.

I had been shopping to 4 other places before coming to Doris'. I thought it looked pretty dated when I first pulled up. Once inside I learned I was wrong. I tried on what I wanted to try on with 1-on-1 service as I was the only one there! As we discussed the likes and dislikes of every dress, the owner's daughter pulled up exactly what I was looking to wear! They will also work within your budget. This was definitely the most selection a bridal shop could need.
Pros: Lots of dresses and personal attention (you aren't pressured to make a choice)

I have looked all over Chicago for a wedding dress and went to Doris Bridal on a recommendation from a coworker. They were so friendly and nice. They took time to understand what kind of wedding I wanted and what type of dress I had in mind. They brought out almost perfect matches to the dress I had envisioned in my head. I bought my dress there in about an hour. So friendly and welcoming, I would go back again in a second.
