Delightful Dining Experience

After visiting Retro Bistro several times for lunch & dinner I decided to have a private party at the restaurant. My guests & I were treated great! They were ccomodating to children. Food & wine offerings were terrific! Highly recommend for Lunch, Dinner or Parties! My guests were very impressed!

Outstanding Food

by pecans

I went to this place on a friday evening at 6:30pm without a reservation, and was able to get a table for two immediately. The atmosphere was romantic, and wait staff was very attentive, and the food was outstanding. I was suprised to see tuna sashimi offered as appetizer....I ordered it and was pleasantly suprised at the high quality of fish. This place had the tastest steaks I've ever eatten. We had the caramel pyramid for dessert, which was beautifully presented but too sweet for my taste. Get the 3 courses for $30, and you won't be disappointed.

Northwest suburban French spot attracts area business types with pleasant atmosphere and a blend of classic and contemporary fare.

by Contributor

In Short
Tucked away in a strip mall, this tiny bistro belies its locale with charming decor and sophisticated cuisine. A black-and-white color scheme is complemented by '40s and '50s posters that adorn the walls. The menu blends French bistro classics like escargot, steak au poivre and osso buco with more contemporary plates such as wasabi-crusted tuna, peppercorn-crusted pork loin and linguini with chicken, prosciutto and Boursin cheese.

Country French at its Best!

by angelobert

The atmosphere, service and value were all outstanding, but all of these paled in comparison to the food! The dishes were authentic, the portions plentiful and the taste was truly out of this world.

My wife and I have dined at Retro Bistro 6 times in the last year, and each of those times, we were accompanied by our 3 year old son. They treated him as a patron and not a pesky kid.

Overall, what can I say but, got there if you hav'nt been there ... and if you have and did'nt like it, to each their own.

Affordable French

by edmay

I can't afford to go to the Le Francais and Le Titi's of the area too often, so my wife and I come here when we have the taste for French. Whenever I come here I order something different, usually from the Fixe Prix menu that constantly changes. So far, I have not been disappointed. Our latest venture was New Year's eve and I had a lobster appetizer, cream of pheasant soup and orange duck that was all outstanding. Portions decent sized. The price is right, too. Many entrees under $20 and Fixe Prix is around $35. We've brought our 2yr old before and they usually give the kids a basket of fries to munch on that are some of the best I've ever tasted. Service is high quality.

Good food, strange location.

by ARTGRRL_505

I've been here a couple of times and both times the food was quite good. The location is a little strange for this type of food, and am surprised that it's lasted in this location for a few years. Great menu selections. Consistently good food!

RETRO BISTRO IS THE BEST

by presperry3

I went to Retro Bistro, with a couple of my parents friends one friday night. It was excellent. The food was superb. The atmosphere is excellent, our waiter was the best. I had Steak Frites, and it was amazing, we also shared the chocolate sampler and it was very good.
