Kids, parents, grandparents and baby-sitters flock to this north suburban museum.

The Scene
The Kohl uses technology in a clever way. A child can pick up a video phone and call someone in another part of the museum (perhaps making a new pal). There is a bank of 10 computers where children can play age-appropriate creative games (usually supervised by an adult or helpful museum volunteer). There's always a special event taking place, from teacher-led projects at various times throughout the day to birthday parties (sometimes several at a time). Adults stand by, cameras poised, as their little ones have a wonderful, exhausting day.
The Skinny
The Duplo room, a theater where children participate with international dancers and interactive videos about diversity is less popular. Perhaps the most-loved space is the water room, where kids guide floating balls down a river through a two-level path. It provides endless hours of entertainment.
