French cafe comfort food prepared for diners on the fly.

In Short
For more than two decades, Northwestern students and North Shore regulars have dined at this small cafe or taken its gourmet goodies to go. Revolving house-made dishes like quiche Lorraine and chicken potpie are offered; other choices include chicken casserole, mustard-baked chicken breasts and lemon-buttermilk Bundt cake. The store also offers packaged gourmet goods such as olive pesto, jalapeno cornbread mix, and fig-and-walnut butter.

No matter if I am desperate for some last minute help with short notice guests, want a scrumptious & cozy lunch with a friend or need assistance planning a catered event for 100 A La Carte never let's me down. With literally hundreds of daily offerings each more tempting than the next-I know even without notice I will find the perfect selections of delectables. The food is fresh, displayed beautifully & the experience of going to A La Carte is always exciting. Never mind the wait-because what I bring home always is well worth it!! My family's answer when we're not sure what to eat is always- "Let's go to A La Carte!!"
- Pros: too many choices, so fresh & good, makes life easy
- Cons: too many choices, sort of expensive, only one location
