More smiles please?

by renescott at Citysearch

Great neighborhood spot for a quick sandwich. Consistent . . .but could we get more smiles with the service? How can you work in such a seemingly pleasant environment and not be more amicable?

  • Pros: Consistant menu, service generally good
  • Cons: Parking, long lines on weekend

Delicious

This little cafe was great! It's super sunny and has a great patio. The sandwiches and homemade chips were wonderful. The staff was very pleasant as well. I recommend the avocado sandwich.

I agree with the previous review. The staff is pomppous and are not courteous. I had to chase them down to get my food. Our lunch cost $35, and the only thing good was the glass of wine. There are way better restaurants for lunch in the area. Isn't there a Wendy's close by?

Horrid!

by mattlacy81 at Citysearch

Had an upsetting experience at Milk and Honey last weekend. Instead of being greeted with a "good morning," we were greeted with "you are not supposed to bring THAT (pointing to my friend's cup of coffee) into our restaurant." The woman later said she would make an exception, "this time." My friends were shocked by her pompous attitude. We apologized. She said "ok, sure." Shocked again, when we got to the counter, we were again treated poorly by another rude and pretentious person. He couldn't hear what my friend ordered and instead of saying "sorry I didn't hear you, could you repeat that?" he said "what???!! Speak up!" The food was only semi-decent. Note to the restaurant: Hire some competent and friendly people and you could actually have a great restaurant on your hands.

Milk & Honey is great.

by mytbegiant at Citysearch

I live a bit up the street and must say that Milk & Honey is one of my favorite neighborhood eateries. I think it works best as more of a cafe, a bright spot to meet a friend for lunch or coffee, especially when it's nice enough to sit outside. It's also a good place to sit and have a bite alone, check out the Reader and people-watch. The salads of the day have always been great, the sandwiches are satisfying and interesting, potato chips crunchy, coffee drinks well-made, atmosphere relaxed. I've had consistently friendly service and good food.

  • Pros: patio, sandwiches, atmosphere
  • Cons: yuppie patrons

Good Neighborhood Breakfast Spot

by wingngiam at Citysearch

I was recently at Milk and Honey Cafe on a Sunday morning. The place is packed with people. Serves good mimosas on weekends and a variety of baked goods. The service is not slow, nor are the servers snobbish.

Gourmet sandwiches and salads for Wicker Parkers on the go.

by Contributor at Citysearch

In Short
This casual gourmet sandwich counter has an updated '50s look, with lots of cream tones and natural light. There's an outdoor patio and a cozy fireplace, but much of the business is takeout, with commuters grabbing a pastry or sandwich on their way to and from work. Look for fancy sandwiches like smoked trout on rye and smoked Gouda with avocado, plus gourmet salads, pastries, bagels, an espresso bar and more.

Worst Service Ever!

by jillwolfe at Citysearch

I've never seen such a rude staff. I live across the street and frequented it often. The staff was never friendly, seemed very rushed, and acted very overworked. The food is fine at best. Needless to say we don't go back.

Service Sucked!

by gray0127 at Citysearch

I loved this cafe when I first walked in, but after a few visits and some horribly snooty service I have decided that panini sandwiches aren't worth being treating poorly because I didn't just pull up in a Lexus. The owner has no personality and is obviously unsatisfied with the general clientel of UK village which the cafe borders. She might think of moving to Lincoln Park!
