Not a good experience
by JasonBright
I have traveled around the country and have been a great fan of the Indian cuisine, I have tried the food at the Indian Garden and was greatly disappointed. The food has no flavor just full of cream and a bland taste and the servers were pushy and very aggressive. If you want a good meal without people hassling you please don't try this place.
Best on Devon Avenue

The tasteful decor, the excellent service, and especially the FOOD make Indian Garden one of my favorite restaurants for a long, conversational lunch or a romantic dinner. The samosas are the best anywhere, and every dish I've ever tried has become my favorite. It might be difficult to choose between the many restaurants on Devon, but Indian Garden stands out for its friendliness, consistency, and quality.

Worth the traffic

This place had gone downhill under the old owners. However, new ownership took over in September of 2007. And what a difference they're making.
The new owner, Maria, had been the longtime manager of the Indian Garden on Ontario (downtown). She and Alex (bartender/manager) have worked hard to make this the place to stop on Devon. We've been there 4 times since the new ownership has taken over and it gets better every time. Give Maria and Alex a couple more months and this will be the place to stop on Devon.

The Scene
If you're not familiar with Devon Avenue dining, Indian Garden is a good place to start. With four locations around the city, they're used to dealing with non-natives, and service is friendly and patient. The room is narrow and bright, with yellow walls and exotic prints and paintings. The crowd is a subdued mix of locals and visitors craving curry.
The Food
Indian Garden's extensive menu abounds with classics for vegetarians and carnivores alike--hearty, filling samosas stuffed with potatoes and green peas; vegetable fritter pakora; and lamb, chicken and seafood specialties whose flavors range from subtle to seriously hot. Chicken tikka masala is pleasantly mild, chunks of chicken folded into a creamy tomato sauce. Like spicy? Try the lamb or chicken vindaloo, but beware--the menu calls its sauce "fiery," and that's an understatement. Cool off your mouth not with water, but with a big hunk of naan.
