Chip Rocks

Simon just passed after 12 years and 4 months. In that time, he knew many groomers and had many friends. He retired to Long Beach a couple of years ago and passed away today.

We have many great memories with Chip and I am happy to see he is still doing what he does so well.

Years of excellent service

Seven years ago, I rescued a longhaired dachshund who was a fear biter with strangers. My own dogs have smooth coats so I had never been to a groomer. I went to Animal Lovers on the recommendation of another rescuer, who had four longhairs and loved Chip.

When I took Milo in for his first grooming, I warned Chip about his biting issues. .Milo had not been groomed in a long time--maybe never--and he was a mess: his hair was long and matted and his nails were very long. Several hours later, I picked up a gorgeous, beautifully groomed dog. Chip laughed when I asked if he'd had any problems with Milo. He apparently trusted Chip completely and hadn't had to be muzzled, even when his nails were clipped.

Months of work with Milo, including expensive training by professionals, failed to solve his problem, so I adopted him myself. Seven years later, we are still going to Chip for regular grooming. Milo trots right in with his tail wagging and comes home looking beautiful. Every time.

At one point in my life, when I was insanely busy, I took Milo to a groomer near the office where I worked, just to save time. It was a fancy grooming place and expensive--and they did a really bad job. Lesson learned.

I've recommended Chip to many friends, and they're all loyal customers. I think Chip is wonderful and I wouldn't go anywhere else.

Affordable and reliable

Chip is a true hero to my dog Oscar. It was a Thursday night and I was trying to get Oscar an appointment for Saturday morning. I spent hours looking for just the right groomer when I came across these postings. I have to admit the things people have to say about Chip seemed to good to be true. I figured I would give him a shot and called him at around 10:30 pm. To my surprise he actually answered. Since it was so late at night I was expecting an answering machine. Chip took the time to answer all of my questions and was able to get Oscar in that weekend. I arrived a few minutes before they officially opened but there was already someone there ready to take him in. She was great. She noted all of my special request with out the usual grunts I usually get from Petsmart employees. I received a call that Oscar was ready and it was at the time they estimated he would be. This was definite first for me. When they brought him over to me he looked perfect. He hair was cut just as I asked. My dog usually goes through a depression period after every grooming but not this time. He was just as happy as he usually is. I would definitely recommend Chip and his staff. Oscar will be returning for years to come.

Best of the Best

This was my second visit with my 2 Cats, Wrigley and Melrose. I like to have them groomed once every 2 months. This place is so awesome!! Chip and his staff are so good with my boys. I drop them off and pick them up a few hours later. I get them home and they are so happy to be cleaned and groomed. Their nails are done, Ears cleaned spotless, de-shedded and totally spotless. I cannot believe how anybody could write a bad review of this place unless maybe it is something personnal and not related to the grooming. This place is the most professional I have ever been to. Chip and his staff really care about your animals and try to make them as comfortable as humanly possible. I will be back in 2 months and every 2 months as long as my boys and I live..This place Rocks...Larry, Melrose and Wrigley say THANKS!!!!!

TERRIBLE SALON, STAY FAR AWAY!

My dog came home with open cuts and scabs all over her body. She was not moving, shaking, and not herself. I called Chip and demanded an explanation as to why she had cuts all over her body and was hut and in distress and he had no explanation. His response was "everything was great". This is a huge lie as my dog was injured here and Chip could not even tell me why! I have heard such horrible stories from other people who took their dogs here, please keep your dog as far away from this place as possilbe.

BEST grooming in Chicago!!

I have a small Shih Tzu who HATES being groomed. He has been groomed in many places in Chicago, and Animal Lovers is the best! He usually hates the process, and is super stressed out throughout the ordeal...sometimes he would even come home and hide after a grooming session.

I was referred to Chip by another dog owner who loved him - everything she told me was right.

This place is great - definitely recommend them!!!

Chip Rocks!

I have been bringing my dogs to Animal Lover's for over 10 years. Chip and staff have always been extremely nice to both myself and my animals. My dogs (two goldens currently, but also a pyr and a collie) always look forward to going in the store. They look fantastic when I pick them up, and it's not ridiculously expensive like some other grooming places. Spending the day in a strange environment can be stressful to some animals, but the staff at Animal Lovers really cares about the pets they groom. I have always been informed if anything looks unusual (i.e., the start of an ear infection) or if they have any concerns. I will continue to use and fully recommend them.

Miracle Workers

Chip and Staff agreed to groom my ungroomable dog a few years ago and Sammy has been a loyal customer ever since. My very long haired and shaggy Australian Shepard was "black-balled" from many groomers on the Northside and we had given up, when my husband looked in the phone book and called.

Very accommodating.

It's name says it all!

We've taken our dog to Chip's business for more than three years, and it's great. Our little guy always comes back looking perfectly groomed, ready for a dog show. Also, he's used to Chip, and isn't freaked out when we take him in for grooming. We've also left him with Chip while we were away on vacation, and he always comes home in good body and spirit. We would recommend Animal Lovers to everyone.
