Wonderful dinner
by Grace Zhang at Citysearch
My son and I shared a very pleasant dinner and evening with my "Chicago" friend at this place since I had a meeting at Chicago this week.
The waitress is very nice, helping my friend and I ordered seven dishes. The orders came to table in a timely manner, every dish was super delicious with high quality. Not only this is for more authentic Chinese dishes, but also I enjoyed one Korean’s dish they recommended.
I had a dinner at this place three year’s ago when I sent my son to college at Northwestern. Food quality has been raised up and better than what I remember at Yu's, and service provided to us was nicer and friendlier. Everything is going extremely well. Because my son and I enjoyed food and service so much, I decided to order additional three dishes for him to take home.
I cannot wait to be here again if I'm in the area. In addition, I would tell others about it if they have chance in Chicago.
Advice

For everyone that wrote a review 2 or less, you people SERIOUSLY GOT THE WRONG STUFF! That food you people ordered -- I could imagine the taste that you people were describing. What you should get is the real Chinese menu -- if you are not able to read Chinese, don't get beef or the non-flavor chicken. I am Chinese -- this is my second time there and it was great. The first wasn't as entertaining, but the second was just amazing. If some of you are complaining about service -- well, let's just say that they are sometimes friendlier to us maybe because we're Chinese, but I'm sure that some of you have wrote 5 out of 5 and are not Chinese and still think it is great service. This is probably because you are either lucky that your waiter was nice (like mine sometimes) or, they might think you are being too cheap by buying too little food. Heck, why would you buy so little food? All that waiting just to spend a couple dollars? Also, if you are going to be stupid like that, DEFINITELY use CASH. This is very important, because one of your reviews is about the credit and debit card business. This is my experience on Yu's Mandarin.
- Pros: Great food, get to watch them cook (its amazing)
- Cons: Extremely long wait -- we waited for at least 30 minutes probably more
The Best of the Best

Yu's is awesome, food, drinks, service all number one. Kids love the window view of the kitchen, which is a great touch. Staff very friendly and service prompt. Was first Chinese restaurant I ever tried back in 1996 and have yet to find one in the states that can compete. To Jeff and the rest of the staff, keep up the great work.
- Pros: Food and Service
- Cons: Busy, but if you want the best it is expected.

Although service isn't that great, Yu's has the BEST chinese food i have ever eaten!!! Everything on the menu is great! and it is soo affordable. you get alot of food, and it's worth the money. Their salt & pepper tofu appetizer is so yummy too:)
- Pros: taste, value of food, atmosphere
- Cons: long wait, parking, sometimes bad service
What to order
by slevin_exp at Citysearch
I have been going to Yu's for almost 20 years, and I have tried most everything there. There are indeed some duds on the menu, but here are the hits... word to the wise - skip the apps and go straight to the entrees: Mabo Tofu; Sesame Beef (tough but tasty); Chicken with Garlic Sauce (not "Garlic Chicken!"); Szechwan Eggplant; Hot Braised Fish; Xiao Ping Pork. Order these and you will not be disappointed. Going before the big dinner rush usually results in tastier preparations.
- Pros: Awesome food, Eggplant? Yes!
- Cons: Mediocre appetizers, Mediocre soups
Are We Talking About The Same Place?
by cheflouie at Citysearch
I am amazed at the negative reviews I'm reading. Are we talking about the same place? This is, quite probably, the BEST Chinese restaurant I've ever experienced. I've been to Chinatown in Frisco, New York & Chicago MANY times. Lot's of good places. None like Yu's.
Worth the Wait!

Food is consistently good, but you have to be careful with some of the hotter dishes! Best Chinese restaurant in the NW Suburbs.
- Pros: Reasonable prices, Consistent food
- Cons: Often a wait
Excellent Food and Atmosphere!!

A must try for their famous Noodle Platter Dish. The noodles are freshly made and the taste of all the food are very consistent. The amount of food you get for the price is awesome. I have recommended Yu's to many friends and they say the same as well. If your looking for a classy and comfortable place to eat good food, come to Yu's Mandarin. Ever wonder how they make noodles? On the weekends, they have a guy making the noodles from scratch. Check it out!!
- Pros: Busy 7 days a week, Inexpensive, Great Food & Service
- Cons: Need more parking
