I came here with some friends of mine for a bite, wanted to try something new. Needless to say, whether or not the food is any good this woman, who turns out is the owner, ruined our entire experience. I'm not sure exactly what was going on, but she was horrible! I don't know how she got started talking to one of the guys in my group but she was such a B*TCH! and potentially heavily medicated? Or definitely super drunk! She was slurring her words together, complaining about business, we were all just looking at each other horrified and we had barely settled in to look at a menu!!! She was just a disgusting mess, we were so turned off by her behavior we left without even placing a drink order. Business is 80% communication and people skills, 20% actual talent or product. If the 80% is so ill you never make it to experience the 20%... well enough said.
- Pros: seemed like a good idea in theory
- Cons: lovely staff
Freindly, Great Drinks, Great Food, Fun Atmosphere
by chimusclejock at Citysearch
I've been going here for 2 years, and other than an 8 month stretch with a marginal chef (all fixed now), it's a weekly event.
Generous martini's, attentive staff that remembers your name, your drink, good food... The fish and chips are a must if they're on special.
It's a great haunt on Monday night when most other places are closed, and the kitchen is open late most nights. Attracts a great crowd. Weekend nights can get crowded or noisy.
Overall, it's a friendly, comfortable place, and while not cheap, it's a good value. Your martini may cost $11, but it come in a glass big enough to make any drag queen's hands look small! Food portions are moderate, but extremely well flavored.
Go twice and you'll be treated like family..
Great for romantic dinners, or eating at the bar.
- Pros: atmostphere, food, drinks, service
- Cons: noisy and crowded on weekend nights
Impress your date ....
by MUSCLEPRICK at Citysearch
Firefly is one of my routine "take a date to dinner" spots - You cant go wrong with the service, the delightful food presentation / portion control and the price. And yes, a MARTINI is a MUST! PS - as you progress into the later hours, weekend visitors get a little louder as the night goes on (oh, it could be the wonderful Martini's)
- Pros: The Filet
- Cons: Noisy later into an eveing

WOW! This place is wonderful! We were at Minibar and were looking to grab a quick bite to eat before heading back to our hotel and our server recommended this little place almost right next door, FireFly. Well lemme tell ya kiddies, this place is the cat's a$$ - perfect drinks, wonderful food (a great mix of dressed up comfort food as well as more complex entrees) and the waitstaff/batenders/owner - WONDERFUL PEOPLE! Sarah has herself an awesome group here people, from Maureen (my love), to Ray, to Mr. Jeff. Put it this way, we were in Chicago for the weekend and had dinner there both nights - enough said. A whole buncha thumbs through the roof.
- Pros: Grilled Cheese, Garlic Mashed Potatoes and the CREPES!!!!!
- Cons: a little small, but would rather it be just like it is than change a thing.
good treatment

Overall, the place has atmosphere & most of the waitstaff was friendly, but our meal was great we were seated & served by the owner (great hands on treatment). With so many great places in Lakeview This is the palce to go
Want a hot dining spot in Lakeview- it's not Firefly...

Overall, the place has atmosphere & most of the waitstaff was friendly, but our meal tasted bad and when we sent it back & ordered something else, we were treated rudely by the owner. With so many great places in Lakeview and surrounding areas, why would you go here? Thumbs down!
- Pros: Convenient to bar scene on Halsted Street
- Cons: Below-average food
Deviled EGGS!
by tubesy at Citysearch
My boyfriend and I stopped by for dinner because of the cute decor and outdoor seating, and when we saw the deviled eggs appetizer on the menu, there were almost tears in our eyes--I'm a Virginia girl and they are my favorite picnic food. The Firefly deviled eggs did not disappoint. Our entrees were pretty good (not fantastic, but good) and the martinis are great and nicely priced. But the deviled eggs are the real attraction and will keep us coming back.
- Pros: I'll say it again-deviled eggs; ambience; friendly crowd
- Cons: not the best burger in town
Great customer service.

I was looking for a nice romantic place to take my boyfriend. The lighting and booths worked out perfectly. The menu was small, which disappointed me at first. But the food we ordered was incredible. I was not let down at all. The waiter was also helpful when we were deciding on what bottle of wine to order, even though the place was crazy busy. Overall it was a good experience.
- Pros: Good customer service, great food, great wine
- Cons: Small place, kind of loud, kind of expensive (but worth it)
Intimate, great food, drinks and service
by rockafellershank at Citysearch
A personal favorite, although on the pricey side - it's the only place I've ever really felt like a $9 martini was well priced. Great date spot, booths have curtains you can draw. Located right at the epicenter of Boystown, but wouldn't be out of place in any other city neighborhood.
- Pros: Great drinks, grilled cheese sandwiches are to die for
- Cons: Expensive, sometimes hard to get a table/no reservations accepted
