horrible delivery experiences
by pokeymoo at Citysearch
Overpriced pretty much sums it up. The beef tenderloin was good, but I'd expect it to be about 50% larger for the price. The "fresh" tuna was completely overcooked and chewy and overly drenched in soy. You couldn't taste the fish at all. Actually only took 3 bites and tossed it out since it tasted as though I was drinking straight soy sauce. The sides were tiny and everything was smashed together, as other reviews have also said. You would think for the $4 delivery charge they would at least have someone with a car, instead of a bike messenger, so they could keep the food upright. Delivery took an hour and a half and arrived cold. I give every place i eat at least two chances. This was their second, and last, chance. Will not be ordering again. Perhaps dine-in experiences are better, but from reading some other reviews, probably not.
Worst Service in Chicago
by ChicagoResident2008 at Citysearch
I use to sing high praises about this place. After my last visit, I will no longer go back. Ordered a Chicken Caesar sandwich for a late lunch, picked up and got home and their was nothing on the sandwich except for the chicken and a weak Caesar dressing. The chicken breast was dry and tuff to chew. Called back to voice my displeasure about nothing on my sandwich. The rude women who I spoke with stated "on the menu it says somewhere the sandwich comes with nothing". At this point I was super ticked off by her pretentious condescending attitude I could not believe she so cold and uncaring about keeping a loyal customer happy. Of course I was extremely upset at the worst $11.00 sandwich in my life. Why couldn't the person taking order ask if we want anything on the sandwich?
My office coworkers and I use to eat lunch there a couple times a month, never again. Lousy rude arrogant service is now the norm at Jerry's. If Jerry Garcia was buried he would be rolling over in his grave knowing this establishment is using his name. The people who work here are not kind people.
- Cons: Rude service, Over priced
Good sandwiches, if you can get it made right
by Sandbar67 at Citysearch
I'll agree that the sandwiches here are pretty decent, and the ingredients are very fresh. The problem is that the employees making the sandwiches seem to be unable to read a ticket correctly. Each of my last four visits I've had to send my sandwich back to have it made right, and twice it came back wrong again, along with a big helping of nasty attitude from the staff. One complaint to the manager was responded to not with an apology, but instead with "well, we're very busy right now" .Too busy to get it right = too busy for my patronage. This place used to be good but its really going downhill fast. I won't be back anytime soon.
- Pros: fresh, unique ingredients
- Cons: can't be bothered to get it right - staff has bad attitide
Abosultely Pathetic

Probably one of the worst sandiwches I ever had to pay for. Stale bread. Roast beef was not fresh and was very salty. It tasted so bad, I threw it away half-way through it. I can't believe these guys are in this business. You almost have to go and see for yourself how bad their sandwiches and service are. There are 4 guys working behind the counter, but somehow we waited over 30 minutes in line with only 5 other customers in front of us. By the time we got our sandwiches, we had already finished 2 bags of chips and half of our drinks. They have not figured out how to run a sandwich shop: take order, take money, and serve sandiwch - it's really not that complicated. Chicago is sorely in need of a good, non-chain, sandwich shop/deli and this place is just pathetic.
- Pros: No rodents sited.
- Cons: Stale bread. Pre-cut, not-fresh, salty cold cuts. Unnecessarliy long line/wait for a sandwich.
Avoid at all costs

This review is for the Jerry's Sandwiches located at 1938 W. Division St. This location recently opened, and being a huge sandwich lover, I decided to try it out today. After trying to call in an order for carry-out three times, and reaching no one on the phone, I decided to walk over and place my order. The hostess was cold as ice and told me my order would take about 15 minutes. Meanwhile, the restaurant was steady with patrons, but certainly not slammed or packed to the bills. After waiting half an hour for two sandwiches that weren't even grilled, I brought my food home. The bread was stale, the fries were cold, and I was completely dissatisfied. For all the alleged hype, I would suggest passing on Jerry's and go to Janik's subs across the street. Since they are family owned, they actually are friendly, they answer their phones, and carry out orders take less than 10 minutes. And if you can't make it there, you could probably get a better sandwich at 7/11 or White Hen Pantry. And also, I never write reviews, but after working in the service industry for over 10 years, I was pretty appalled at my experience at Jerry's and wanted to save other good customers their time and money. There is just too much good food out in this world to be wasting your money at a place like this. And again, this is in reference to their Division location. not the one on Madison.
- Pros: All the servers looked pleasant and friendly, and the restaurant itself was very clean
- Cons: For a place that specializes in sandwiches, they weren't very good, or even noteworthy.

If they made sandwiches in heaven they would taste like Jerry's sandwiches. They us only the freshest and best ingreadiants and you can really tell. They sanwiches taste so fresh. I go there all the time. I've been goig there since they opened , it's just been so lovely to watch them grow. Usually when I go at about 12:30 the line is out the door! It's crazy but so good. I love that when there younger daughter is in how just polite she is and kind and loves to help people and so enthusiastic. She really shows how friendly and polite and helpful Jerry's is. All the staff there are just so great soemtimes you catch one of the staff memebers on a bad day but they are still very kind and helpful. I really love the outdoor seating and irealyl love the feel of Jerry's. I am super excited for the new place to open on monday! At 1938 West Division. One of the best sandwich's in Chicago
by zebrahead at Citysearch
The service is great considering they are usally quite busy. Phone ahead or get delivery if you can. Usually there is room to sit down in the back 11-12, they have free wi-fi for informal meetings.
But you go there for your favorite sandwich. Honestly, if you have a bad sandwich at Jerry's it's because you asked for something you don't like. Everything is top notch. Their specials are imaginative and tasty. Very reasonably priced for the quality of food. $2 more than Subway... you can't even compare the food.
I am a HUGE fan of their soups!! If they have meat in them, it's usually from the smoker they have on-site. EXCELLENT!!
If you're in Chicago for more than a day, you owe it to yourself to get lunch here.
- Pros: Superb sandwichs, excellent everything else for lunch!
- Cons: None that I've seen
Best, most impressive variety of gourmet sandwiches in this galaxy!
by rickanderson11 at Citysearch
Quite simply, the most awesome sandwich joint you will ever find. Where else could you get freshly roasted salmon on D'Amato's bread with grilled onions, grilled asparagus, provolone and homemade chipotle mango chutney with a side of thai noodles (or one of several other daily sides) for SEVEN BUCKS? You cannnot beat their food at any price...and Mindy, contrary to one dumb comment, is a charming, kind and talented host. The rest of the team there is oh-so-friendly as well, as long as you don't misbehave (so grow up and be polite to your servers already...). Mark's daily specials and homemade soups are incredible, too...and don't forget Uriah's to-die-for bread pudding! The rest of the sandwich world is just left in the dust of ordinariness--sorry guys, but Jerry's is in a class by itself!
- Pros: a treat any day of the week
- Cons: wish it were closer to my casa
Best sandwiches I've ever had.

While it would seem that parking for Jerry's might be tight. I have always been able to find a spot right in front. And if the list of sandwich materials seems overwhelming, grab one of their booklets with predeisnged sandwiches, or even just ask for help. THe staff is always kind and willing. I have nothing but good words to say about Jerry's. THe food is great and so is the atmosphere.
Best Sandwiches in Chicago!
by jalbano at Citysearch
Jerry's is a great, affordable sandwich shop which offers fresh meats and impeccable service. I live far away from the shop, but am a frequent lunch-time visitor. I've never met anyone who has had a bad experience at Jerry's and I don't think I ever will. I highly recommend this establishment to anyone who wants to eat smart and eat healthy!
- Pros: Fast service, Friendly workers, Charming atmosphere.
