Avoid at all costs

We had nothing but problems from the get-go. We booked a room for 3 nights and prepaid online 2 weeks in advance. The day before we are to check in, my wife calls to verify our reservation. They say their computers are down so they can't check reservations. She calls back the next day and they say they don't have our reservation even though we have a confirmation #. So, we call the main reservations line for Holiday Inn and they have our reservations in their computer so they call the Schaumburg location and get it straightened out (or so we are told). When we check in they ask for a credit card for any accidental charges or amenities. We give them our credit card. Big mistake! When we go to our room it is not even finished. Carpet isn't cut properly. Light fixtures with no lights in them. Constant noise 24/7 because of the super-thin walls. However, we don't complain about any of this. When we check out and our on our drive home we realize they billed our CC TWICE! Once when we initially prepaid and again when we checked out. I call the front desk and they say their system doesn't show our room was prepaid and no manager is in today so they can't help me. I don't know how a hotel can be run without a manager but apparently they do it all the time. I'm told to call back the next day when the manager will be in. So, I do. He isn't there. Call again tomorrow they say. I do, he isn't in again. I tell the receptionist this isn't a joke and we need this taken care of ASAP. So, I give her 3 numbers to give to the "manager" to contact me. She says he will have him call "first thing in the morning." Well, its now 2 days later and I still have not heard from the guy. I will be contacting Holiday Inn headquarters and complaining big time! Their level of unprofessionalism and incompetence is absolutely ridiculous. There are plenty of other hotels in the area, so do yourself a favor and don't make the same mistake we did. Stay somewhere else.
- Pros: the only good thing was the Kitchen Bar located outside of the lobby
- Cons: incompetent and uncaring staff, rooms not finished and VERY small, managers impossible to reach, noisy, etc.
Stay here without a doubt!

This hotel was great... I was very impressed. I stay in hotels a few times a month and always book on hotwire so I never know exactly what I am going to get & I am impressed with this Holiday Inn Express. It is newly renovated, and the rooms are comfortable and modern. The shower heads are awsome and have great pressure. The complementary breakfast was great. They served biscuits & gravy, omlets, bacon, sausage, warm cinnamon rolls and so much more! I wasn't here to swim so it didn't matter to me but they only have an outside pool that is seasonal & no sauna of hot tub. The receptionist was the brightest happiest woman I have seen working a front desk in a while. I felt cared for when I left after talking to her. I have no complaints or doubts at all do stay at this place for sure. By the way I saw someone who had the same problem as the person who left a review below with prepaying online and then not being in the system, but it was handled efficently so I think they got that figured out. Bring your print out of your booking and be prepared cause that seems to be a problem at this place with not getting into the system. I booked online and personally had no problems with checking in.
- Pros: comfortable rooms, great breakfast, caring staff
- Cons: seasonal pool, checking in for some was a problem
