Horrible Service, Ruined the Evening. Maybe the "real" dining area is different, but my party took a table in the bar area, where we paid full Pete Miller prices, but had horrific service. We had to ASK for silverware, waters, bread - all of the standard dining items. Our orders were mixed up, food came to us at all different times, the bills were wrong. When I spoke with Heather, the manager, about how unsatisfied I was with the evening, instead of handling the problem she told me, "Go to our website and fill out a survey". I would never go there again, and at a bare minimum I would highly recommend never going there on a weekend evening. It's overpriced and the staff is unqualified to handle a fine dining experience.

worse service we have ever had any where. I will not rant as I wish to but lets just say we will never go back to petes again the wait staff was so horrible to us and when we complain to the manager she told us maybe we should not come back! Which was a shock sence we had such bad service from not getting greeted at the table for 30 mins after setting down to a waitress that was so rude and slow with drinks and food we did not even tip her. The food was cold and presentation well there was none we have gone there many time and the service is allways fair to poor but this was one for the record books.

Beautiful Steaks. I can only speak to the Pete Miller's in Wheeling... Food is fantastic! Highly recommend their horseradish encrusted fillet mignon or fantastic pork chop with apple chutney. Best pork chop and fillet I have ever had. Simply put, Pete Miller's does a fantastic job with beef and pork; however, not so much with fish. Fish at Pete's is average, at best.

This is a great place to bring a date due to the nice intimate surroundings. Even when completely packed and with a live Jazz band playing, you can hold a conversation without having to shout. I am continuously talking this place up with co-workers who are looking to have a special diner with their special someone.

Fantastic and extremely knowledgeable wait staff; though some, as noted in other reviews, can be a bit pretentious. However, this does not overshadow the dining experience.

Pete's has yet to disappoint! Oh yes - they make a great Manhattan too!

Average dinner price per person: $20 - $45

Pete Millers Evanston. The food is great. With a few exceptions, the service in the main dining room is terrible.A majority of the waiters have a chip on their shoulders and act very snobby, unpleasant, and condescending. We have gone there many times and have experienced the same thing with various waiters. They act pissed off when you don't order alcohol and the most expensive thing on the menu. The table bussers are quite friendly though. The service in the Billiards room is much better because the people are friendly and hospitable. That said, the restaurant is good over all.

Loud, lively Evanston steakhouse buzzes with live jazz and an accomplished, meat-loving menu.. The Scene
On weekends, this restaurant's central bar bustles with diners waiting for tables; a tin roof, low ceilings and nightly live music add to the convivial din. Wood wainscoting, crown molding and brass-studded leather chairs set a warm, clubby atmosphere, ideal for celebrating special occasions or just indulging in a good steak.

The Food

The classic steakhouse menu features generous portions of all-American fare. Appetizers include seafood favorites like oysters Rockefeller and crispy fried calamari (regular or Buffalo-style), and burgers and salads make for a good, casual meal. Huge, unadorned steaks are the real stars here, from the signature basil-marinated ribeye to tender filets available six different ways. Chicken, ribs, pasta and shellfish plates round out the menu; desserts include bananas Foster and raspberry bread pudding.

Love It!. I love the new Pete Miller's in Wheeling so much I had to try this one. I was not disappointed. Everything was great. The dark 1940's supper club feel, live jazz, big steaks really nice people and huge martinis with great big olives. Next time I'm in Evanston I will definately stop back at Pete Miller's!

Love the Meat Tray. Pete Miller's is a great restaurant in a prime downtown Evanston location. Parking can be difficult on busy weeknights and weekends. The steaks are very good here. Make sure to ask them to bring out the tray of meat. They have some impressive cuts of beef. Some nights they also have live jazz in the front part of the restaurant by the bar.

Good Steaks, Jazz & Your Empty Wallet. Bring your wallet, an appetite, and tolerance. My steak was awesome, my fellow diners were not as happy with their steaks, both were too dry. I'm a huge fan of side dishes, and they have some great ones here, food=good. I was surprised that the clientele could get food up to their mouths with their noses so high, its steak and jazz, lighten up! I have a huge musical repetoire but is not quite the jazz @ Green Mill. If you drop some major $ and sit down for a great steak and mash dinner... if you catch bluegrass nite, it ain't steak and jazz. No Stan Kenton/ Marcus Pincus here. Between the high price and wavering musical talent, I wasn't impressed. No need to go back. My girlfriend, "The mash was yummy. Can we go out for drinks now." Me:"Sure where's a cash station." The guys: bring your wallet.

Where everybody knows your name. I just moved out of Chicago in February, and had to go to Miller's the night before I left to say goodbye. I still go back to visit Miller's. And they still know to put a Guiness in front of me without saying. It's the kind of place you can go and relax any night of the week, or go and party. Great jazz, wine, and drinks, their bar food is out of this world, especially their tune medallions and bisque (dip the bread in it).
