Scoop up some gourmet nibbles for yourself, or wrap them up pretty for a friend.

The Scene
Scuffed wood floors are a rustic touch in this bright, clean store. Metal shelves are carefully laid out with teas, sauces, crackers and jams. The buy-the-ounce bins run through the middle and along one side of the brick-walled shop. Wicker baskets are scattered throughout for gathering goodies into a gift. Don't be shy about donning plastic gloves (provided near the bins) for self-serve samples.
The Goods
Although some of the items seem familiar, like Twinings teas and spicy mustard, others are fun and different. Try dried mangos, falafel mix (just add water), creme brulee cordials and chocolate gummy bears. Grind your own Intelligentsia coffee beans with an old-fashioned grinder. And fill your bags with farina and oat bran, milk-chocolate-covered pretzels and Bing cherries, pistachios and walnuts, and wild rice and linguini. Then pick out a cookbook to create the perfect meal.
- Pros: Free tastesgift-wrapping
- Cons: Familiar goods
Dubby's is worth the trip
by amy_gibby
Dubby's is a real find. The best red licorice I've ever tasted. White chocolate malted milk balls. Chocolate covered cashews. And everything is by the ounce, so you can buy as little or as much as you want. The owner makes you feel like every purchase is special. This store is a gem.
- Pros: great selection, good price variety, excellent service
- Cons: not open on Mondays
