Fresh produce and gourmet frozen foods sold at affordable prices.
by Martha Burr
In Short
Founder Joseph Coulombe started this L.A.-based convenience chain 34 years ago. Today, you can get exotic, prepackaged frozen foods, fresh salsas, huge portobello mushrooms, baby artichokes and heirloom tomatoes fresher--and cheaper--than at most supermarkets. Inexpensive meat, fish, coffees and teas, dozens of cheeses, grains and pastas cram the shelves. The frozen section features tasty treats, including barbecue chicken pizzas, mushroom risotto and salmon patties. Beer, wine and liquor sections are stocked with very affordable labels.
- Pros: Good selectionGood value
- Cons: Occasionally crowded
Making Grocery Shopping an Enjoyable Experience!!

This is my favorite place to go grocery shopping. They have a great afford wine selection. I love their frozen foods, especially crab cakes, and crab stuffed flounder. They have easy dinners at great prices. Also, banana chips here are my favorite. I hate grocery shopping but I love shopping here. The employees are by far the nicest and they will give you their honest option about products. Trader Joe's is a great neighborhood, healthy grocery store.

It's affordable Whole Foods, with a smile. The wine selection is not only extensive (and the staff very helpful), but it's also well-priced. I liked the frozen meat section. Even though it's frozen, it looks better than anything I've seen at the cookie cutter mega grocery stores. Also, the chips and bread are good too. It's worth a visit, just beware of the parking lot.
- Pros: staff, products
- Cons: parking, crowded on weekends
