Let me just tell you.... horrible service. The waitress was nowhere to be found. That was after the hostess had pointed us to the table, and we asked if we could be seated outside instead. I swear she ROLLED her eyes and threw the menus on the table. We felt outraged- I should have left right there. But decided to stay and masochistically wait forever for a drink and than food, that was mediocre and tasteless. the servings also are really small, which does not go together with the quality. Had to get up and ask for two sauce plates. I work in the industry and if I saw that hostesses' behavior, she would be fired on the spot. Location can only get you as far...

LOVE this place!! Great outdoor seating and great service. The servers are very nice. But the guys behind the sushi bar are the best!!! Very helpful and charismatic. The sushi is to die for. I work on Wacker dr. and my coworkers and I will catch a cab just to eat lunch at OYSY. Their lunch menue is amazing, but come hungry because the lunch specials include a lot!!! And for a great price too!! Amazing seaweed cucumber salad and miso soup too!!
Pros: ambience
Cons: Far from work

Oysy was recommended to me as a reasonably priced place with good sushi. This is far from the case, we went to the Grand location and I believe who ever wrote the reviews that this place is good works is hired by them. The prices are reasonable but the food is not good. We had several different options and I cant say I need to try any of them again in life. The fish did not seem fresh, we even tried cooked food in hope that would be better. The sesame scallops sounds good on the menu but were terrible in quality and taste. The firecracker roll is likely your best bet, even that is just OK. If you like and have had good sushi or just good fish for that matter you will not enjoy this place.
Pros: The service was OK
Cons: food

I was so excited to try Oysy after reading all of the great reviews. They really must hire people to write those good reviews. My boyfriend and I love sushi and were thrilled to be seated right away on a Sunday night. We were then completely ignored for the rest of the evening aside from once, when our waitress came over to bring me the wrong beer, and twice to bring our food. We waited 40 minutes before getting our first roll- (we ordered the summer) and we were saddened by the small size- a measly five pieces. Our drinks were never refilled and after waiting another 20 minutes for our second roll I asked to speak with a manager and was told that there was no one available. We ordered our check before we received our dynamite roll and though hungry, could barely gulp it down (the tempura tasted like deep fried play dough) before we took the fast plane out of there. All we could do was laugh at what a terrible experience it was. If you enjoy wasting your money, eating tiny portions of mediocre and bland food, and feeling as if you do not exist- try Oysey- short for NOT delicious.
Pros: atmosphere is sparse chic
Cons: no managers available to take your complaints

Delicious is right... a-MAZ-ing is dead on... I was looking for an affordable wrap up to my one day in downtown Chicago that was within a reasonable distance from Navy Pier and the blue line... A quick cab ride got me there and the menu kept me there, until my short walk back to the train. Wide variety- many reasonably priced options, wide drink list, for you drinkers, although I went with the Pom. Spritzer. Yum!!!I also got the $32 chef's choice... 18 pcs of incredible sushi... But nothing touched he miso- Just incredible. The best I've had! And the service is the best (get a seat near the window- good people watching opportunities!)
Pros: service, location, food, value
Cons: parking? kinda far down michigan..

My husband and I are big sushi aficionados, and we've been looking for delicious sushi all over Chicago for 5 years now. We're really in it for the fresh sashimi, and only the freshest will satisfy us. We have tried most of the highly recommended sushi joints in Chicago, and had settled on Tsunami as the only place to get consistently fresh, high-quality sushi. That is, until we discovered OYSY. This place is nothing short of amazing: every piece of fish was extremely fresh, thick-cut, artfully prepared and presented, the presentation, atmosphere, and service were great-- all in all, a perfect evening. Best of all, it's relatively cheap, and we were free to order lots of sake, rolls, a-la-carte maki, and dessert without driving the price sky-high. This is *the* place to go in Chicago for fresh, delicious sushi.
Pros: Ultra-fresh sushi, reasonable price, excellent service.
Cons: Parking

I have not had good sushi in the U.S. outside of Los Angeles (and even high end New York sushi bars are somewhat lacking) and was very surprised by the qaulity of the sushi at Izagaya on Grand. The sushi is the best I have had outside of L.A. and Tokyo. The name is a little funny or else a play on words- the actual Japanese word would be "Izakaya" and "Oysy" would be "Oishii", so I guess the owners were just playing with the words. I highly recommend the sake (raw salmon) and hamachi (yellowtail). Staff is very friendly. I hope to travel to chicago on buisness more often so that I can revisit this restaurant. The restaurant is also very bright and sleek inside and very energetic. I have nothing but good things to say about the Grand Ave. location and have recommended it to my Chicago associates.
Pros: Fish quality
Cons: none that I can think of

This was my first sushi experience and I am hooked! Our server was very informative, we ordered a couple of her suggestions and were very happy with the results. We had the Rainbow Maki, Spicy Tuna, Spicy California, Red Snapper Nigiri (delicious). We also tried a few cooked dishes: Teriyaki Chicken, Soft shell crab tempura and Grilled Shrimp with cilantro. The warm sake was excellent (I didn't think I would like it, but I did). I ordered the green tea ice cream for dessert which was also very pleasing to my pallate. I was a little nervous about the whole "raw food" experience but pleasantly surprised to find that sushi is DELICIOUS! All of our food tasted very fresh, I would definitely recommend OYSY to anyone visiting Chicago (or anyone who lives in Chicago) who asks "Where can I find a good sushi restaurant?". I will definitely visit this restaurant again.
Pros: Great prices, informative servers (well, at least ours was), soothing ambiance
Cons: Restaurant could be bigger

I went to four different sushi restaurants in Chicago while in town for a convention. Oysy was by far the best. The rolls were innovative and fresh. The service was excellent, although it was a lunch-time lull when I was there. I was extremely pleased with my experience, and when I go back to Chicago, I will not be troubling myself looking for a sushi restaurant; I've found the only one I need.
Pros: Sushi, sushi, sushi
Cons: surrounding area leaves a little to be desired

Honestly, I have cravings for some of the rolls on this menu. There are some fabulous and delicious things on this menu. Summer roll, Winter roll, Green turtle, Chicago Crazy, oh and the Flaming Dynamite. I love this restaurant. The sushi is fantastic, the service is friendly. I venture to say that it is the very best sushi in the city!
Pros: the food is delicous! service is wonderful!
Cons: a little to bright.
