We love the South Shore Location Too!
by okfam1 at Citysearch
My daughter attends the South Shore location and we love it. The teachers are very friendly and supportive. The curriculum makes learning fun. I work in Hyde Park and this is close to the lake and has plenty of parking so it is also very convenient.
- Pros: Each child gets lots of personal attention, The environment is very supportive.
- Cons: They cater to vegeterians, but I wish they would serve more organic foods.
What a place!

My family had just returned from 3yrs in Texas and had NO IDEA where to begin looking for child care. Referals had left us feeling a little apprehensive. We saw an ad for Little Hands in Chicago Parent and decided to give it a look-see. Since becoming a parent, I feel I have developed a sort of a sixth sense about people and places that could be good or bad for my little ones. From the moment I set foot into Little Hands I had a feeling of warmth and nuturing, and was genuinely impressed with how caring and dedicated the directors and staff are toward all of the children. Over the last year I have been more and more impressed, and I am extremely happy with the accelerated education my daughter has received. In fact, after an entire day she still never wants to leave!
- Pros: Academics, Extra curriculars, Everything!
- Cons: Parking
Nurturing Environment
by stalml at Citysearch
If you are looking for an academically rich and nurturing environment, Little Hands Learning Center (LHLC) is for you. Being a first time mom, I was very concerned about the type of environment I would be introducing my daughter to and wondering whether or not she would be able to thrive in that environment. The teachers are very nurturing and at times some would be walking around carrying a smaller kid while instructing others. The directors and the teachers were very instrumental in helping my daughter adjust to a new environment and new kids. My daughter has been at LHLC for 3 years and she is very strong academically in both math and reading. She has great social skills and easily interacts with the other kids and teachers. I loved the school so much I enrolled my 2 year in the Fall of 2005.
A Dream Come True!

LHLC provides an educational experience that is second to none. My 3 1/2 year old daughter has been there for almost a year and she can write and spell her first and last name. write the alphabet and numbers up to twenty, count to ten in Spanish, say the days of the week in English and Spanish, tie her shoes--when she wants to :-), recognize shapes, including cones, spheres and pyramids and much more. She loves going to school and sometimes doesn't want to leave. The teachers and directors are caring and professional. The field trips are well planned and provide the children with new experiences. They have gone to plays, the Museum of Science and Industry, an apple orchard and in the summer, the library and park. The parents at Little Hands participate a lot and are committed to making Little Hands successful.
- Pros: Great Curriculum, Great Field Trips, Great Staff
LOVE IT!
by imorris at Citysearch
During our search for a preschool for our two-year old son last year, we encountered different facilities with similar mediocre programs and not the special something we were hoping for. After several visits to schools in and out of our area we were very excited to have found LHLC with its professional & friendly directors and curriculums with genuine focus to the early education of children as young as two. Ms. Kalena, as well as her assistant teachers, Ms. Luz & Ms. Janine, are always so friendly, informative as to daily activities, improvements and new developments. LHLC truly has excellent teachers. We look forward to my sons' continued development and intend on enrolling him every semester through kindergarten graduation.
- Pros: Advanced Curriculums
- Cons: None

- Pros: Great Parents, Great Teachers, Great Directors
- Cons: Parking
LHLC is an answer to prayer.
by tishtash87 at Citysearch
As a first time parent, I was leery about sending my two year-old son to preschool. I looked and prayed extensively for a preschool that offered a well-balanced curriculum infused with multiple learning styles, fun, and technology.
After walking through the door of Little Hands Learning Center (LHLC) and meeting the directors and teachers, I felt an atmosphere of acceptance. I immediately knew that my son would be nurtured, safe, and cared about.
For three years, LHLC has far exceeded my expectations. I am confident that my son has received a solid educational and social foundation and he is prepared to be a life-long learner and a good friend.
- Pros: Caring Staff, Numerous field trips, healthy snacks/lunch
- Cons: Congestive parking
Wonderful school, high quality program

This is a fantastic school. My friends and I were all looking for preschools in the chicago area--mainly Hyde park and Beverly. I thought I was being to picky at first because every school I visited was either missing too many things off my checklist or just didn't feel right. From the moment I went through the Little Hands door and met with the Director and had a tour, I got that feeling that --this is the school! I called my friends and we signed up together. Till this day, they have lived up to all my expectations. Warm and nuturing staff, advanced curriculum and great events that involve parent participation. I am so happy I read the article done on them in Chicago Parents magazine and found out about the school.
- Pros: lots of field trips, Very Clean
- Cons: parking
Had to Write a Review-Great School.
by cynthia_smith_chp at Citysearch
I will sum this school up with 3 words -GREAT, GREAT, GREAT. They kept my son busy, stimulated and challenged. I had never been to a school where the Directors-Ms Michelle and Ms Cathy were so involved and knew all the children by name. All the staff speak to the children appropriately and are very patient w/ all the children. I liked the daily update sheets, worksheets sent home all the time, weekend homework packets, & science projects. My child always came home singing songs or teaching me about the planets, etc. They made it fun. The cutest thing ever was their spring production/dance show/graduation at the end of the year at a Theatre. The children were all on stage & you could tell they spent a lot of effort in the perfomance. My whole family was amazed that they do those productions every year with the kids.
- Pros: small -cozy school, fun environment, good curriculum
- Cons: 9am Morning cutoff
The Best Preschool in Chicago
by lucky_cbg at Citysearch
I had two children that attended this program and my husband and I were extremely pleased with the program's accelerated academics, the wonderful staff, and the cleanliness of the school. The school has a global enrichment program, spanish, field trips, a wonderful science/math & reading program, a no tv policy (which my husband and I really loved), and the most nurturing and fun environment that a parent could ever ask for. They have a fine arts program, which includes dance for the children, and a spring production. -- My children never wanted to leave when it was time to pick them up! I absolutely love this school and would recommend it to anyone without hesitation!!! I still visit the school and attend their LHLC Annual family picnic and October Fest. The school and staff truly "outdo" themselves and make it a place that parents and children fall in love with.
- Pros: Great staff, academics, Cultural diversity
- Cons: a little more $, Street Parking
