What a horrible business - poor attitude - Inept Ownership!

by William Sixsmith at Citysearch

I ordered 7 jumbo pizza's from Joe's for an event I was hosting. 6 pizza's arrived. I asked to be refunded for one undelivered pizza...seemed like a simple enough solution.

INSTEAD...Joe, the business owner, gets on the phone with me and starts arguing about how he made the pizzas and the driver is saying he delivered 7 pizzas. Apparently math is not a must in the pizza shop owning business as my counter argument that I am standing over 6 and only 6 pizzas was not satisfactory.

Joe then has the audacity to state that 'well I bet it is the best pizza you've ever had' in the middle of an argument about him charging me for undelivered product!

Story ends with Joe basically stealing $25 out of a $200 order for...AND DON'T MISTAKE THIS EVERYONE...very mediocre, run of the mill, can get it ANYWHERE, pizza.

Best Old Chicago-Style Thin Crust

by schlek2003 at Citysearch

*Best cheese on pizza... cooked good and light brown.

*Best crust on pizza... nobody has been able to produce a consistent thin cracker crisp crunch all the way thru like this place. We always get the traditional sausage pizza... I wonder if it would stay crunchy like this if multiple items were ordered.

*Best sauce... just the right amount of sauce. Not dry and not overly saturated.

*Better than the great original Vito and Nick's on Pulaski (featured on the Food Network's "Diners, Drive-Ins, & Dives")

Oh... and the toasted ravioli with the meat sauce is the best, too.

Service is classic friendly Southside style.

Not a fancy restaurant... a booths and tables/chairs-type a place (probably seating for about 50). Pricing is very fair. Can get half-pitchers of beer or pop!

My background... West Side (city and burbs my whole life) and I am NEVER out this way, so I am not being biased, like I was from this area.

  • Pros: Best tasting pizza (see Details)
  • Cons: I can always find fault but there is none with this pie

Memory Lane

by jwscif at Citysearch

Pizza recipe has not changed since the 1940's How great it is to have that same taste, and be reminded of growing up around 63rd st back in the day! Sadly for me I'm out in California and can only get my pizza fix once in while, when I visit.

We love eating at Joe's Italian Villa - and having their food delivered, as well. We enjoy their pizza and lasagna! The people that work there - make it! They really are good folks.

  • Pros: convenient, great service, nice people
  • Cons: busy shopping center

Best Pizza Ever!

by Djstrat4688 at Citysearch

Joe's is definitely one of my favorite restaurants. My family has been going there since my mom and her siblings were little. I always take my girlfriend there when she is in town, and we always get a large cheese pizza, a side of fries, and a pitcher of Pepsi. Everything is always excellent. Their sodas are very syrupy and full of flavor. I highly recommend it for anyone who is looking for great food and service. My only regret is that they don't sell the cool tie-dyed shirts that the waitresses wear.

Best Pizza I have ever had hands down

by exnavydad at Citysearch

During the more then 7 and ? years that I served in the Navy and the places that I have traveled since I have had Pizza in just about all of them. I can assure you that I have eaten more then my fair share of Pizza and I can only say that hands down Joe?s Italian Villa Pizza is the best. While some people may have had other items from their menu all I can speak about is the Pizza because I do not go into a PIZZA Place for chicken. So I don?t know if it is good or not my Wife has had their alfredo which she loves and she should know about it as she and her family owned a Geno?s East Pizza restaurant. I used to give her trouble about the fact that they had a sign in their place that said if you find a better Pizza then ours we will buy it, From the first time I brought her their she agreed that Joe?s was better. That is my opinion for what it is worth exnavydad

  • Pros: Extremely friendly staff who give excellent service at an excellent value.
  • Cons: I can't think of any Cons for this place

Best pizza without a doubt. I lived in Bridgeview then moved to Florida and always went to Joe's when I returned. Now I'm in TN and looking forward to coming more regularly to the Chicago area for a great pizza in a very welcoming atmosphere.

Best Pizza in Chicago

by novatraynor at Citysearch

I was born in Chicago and I have had more than my share of pizza. Joe's is by far the best pizza in the area. I actual crave the taste. The sauce is addictive. Try the Italian Beef dipped with red sauce, it is outstanding. The thin crust pizza is what they are known for but the deep dish is a good change of pace. My whole family is addicted and I have hooked many of my friends into the villa. The service is great and the owners will stop by your table and say hello. If you haven't tried this place then find your way there.

It is great for the family with a casual atmosphere and the game is always on the TV.

  • Pros: Great Pizza, Great sauce, good service, friendly place.
  • Cons: Not open until 2:00pm on Sundays :)

All around bad

by jade5135 at Citysearch

The minute I walked in it smelled like burnt cheese. Iced tea was more ice than tea. My chicken dumpling soup had no flavor and the dumplings were tasteless and mushy. The grilled chicken sandwich was the driest I've ever had and the bread was far from fresh. The fries were crinkle cut and obviously the frozen kind. My dining companion had the minestrone and salad with her spaghetti. She said nothing of the soup and salad and to me both looked pretty mundane. She said the spaghetti was "ok". Not once did the waitress ask how everything was or if we needed anything. Though the pizzas that were being brought out did look pretty good, the continued smell of burnt cheese permeated the place with each that was brought out. It was our first time there and needless to say, our last.

  • Pros: I can't come up with one
  • Cons: Poor parking in a strip mall, burnt cheese smell very unappetizing
