Enjoy the Polish Experience. Since we live out of the area, we look forward to stopping here everytime we are near. The food is great, although I pretty much always get the Bigos (Hunters Stew). It is absolutely wonderful, and always good the second time around at home. Since I am also Lithuanian, I like to try the Lithuanian platter too. It is absolutely wonderful. Hubby enjoys the pierogi and also the stuffed cabbage. Not much available for the desserts though. Priced just right, too

Garbage and Bilge. What lousy food. Mashed potatoes (instant) which tasted like glue. Lousy sauerkraut, ribs, etc. If you want good Polish food go to Bobak's which is close by. This place gives you a lot of food, and all of it is bad. Yuk!

I never slam restaurants. This place is really not worth the effort it takes to park and walk to the seat. I have been forced to eat at Mabenka because my mother-in-law is polish and lithuanian. She enjoys seeing all the food she grew up on, on the menu. To her own admission Mabenka does a lousy job of producing the food but none the less she likes going. After our last experience there though, I doubt she will return. In addition to the normally lousy food the service was really, really bad, and the restaurant wasn't even busy. My advice is to not waste your time and money.

Man, do I miss this place!. I live in Austin, TX now, and I still think about Mabenka's food all the time. Their pierogies are so, so good... as is their sauerkraut soup and borscht. I cannot recommend this place highly enough. The prices are more than reasonable, and the portions are not only generous and filling, but also really, really good. I wish they'd franchise...
