Martial arts with great energy
by ChgoMegs
I participated in a class and even with my marathon training and the other sports I do, I still felt muscles that I don't feel. It was a terrific work-out. The owner and master teacher, Daniel Pesina, is so knowledgeable, enthusiastic and funny that you don't mind the hard work. As a woman I felt very comfortable and there were other women in the class. All of the other students were very encouraging. Now that the new location has officially opened I'd love to take a beginners' class.
Kid Friendly Kung Fu

My kids and I have been going to Chicago WuShu Guan for about 4-5 years. We've enjoyed our time here so much that we followed them to their new location at 4405 N. Clark St. ( Citysearch still lists their old address) Their new facility is neat and clean (much more so than the old place). Although the space a smaller, there's still plenty of room to do all the same forms and weapons. Great group of students in both the Adult and Kid Classes. Good comaraderie and a great teacher makes the classes fun to participate in. My two girls have benefited from the discipline gaining new confidence, good health, strength, flexibility, knowledge, and balance. Well, that's my view. They'd probably say that they like the kicking, punching, jumping and weapons! I highly recommend joining a class.
- Pros: Great for kids
Find a new locatiom

The building is horrible, it leaks all the time and the bathrooms are bad. They should move to where Skyline is. It was so much better when all the businesses were together. Please find a new location.

Nothing special, but it is worth the time of you are trying to get started in the martial arts. Owner was in Mortal Kombat.
Kungfu in the city
by erikami
Ive been taking at Chicago Wushu Guan for about 4 years and have loved every minute of it. I had taken martial arts at other places in the past and found that those schools focused more on getting into bar fights, and kicking butt. Chicago Wushu Guan seems to focus on the more true and traditional forms as they are taught in China.
I recently went to China and took a random class from a monk in the middle of nowhere, and was greeted with a class that was almost identical to what I am learning here in Chicago.
solid, authentic martial arts

Great for all students of any tier, Shifu Daniel, other masters, and students are all patient, friendly, and its easy to fit right in! Monday, Wednesday and Friday mornings and evenings (starting from 10am, childrens classes at 5pm, and adults at 6pm) are Wushu and conditioning, Wednesdays are weapon fundamentals days, Tuesday and Thursday are Taiji (Tai Chi) classes, and Bagua Zhan on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday mornings.
You should check out the facility, or the website if you're interested!

For all my ladies: This is a great place to train in martial arts‎
by sindee1980
For any women that may be a little aprehensive about trying a male dominant activity, this is the place to go. Ever since I began here I have always felt comfortable. The teachers and students are always willing to help and are always respectful. I couldn't have found a better place to train.
- Pros: Instruction & teachers
- Cons: None

Superb instruction from Sifu Daniel, and excellent support from the other staff. There is a fabulous camraderie amongst the students and everyone is equally encouraged...you get a great workout too. I really like the space, it's a huge floor with skylights and in the summer its great because the garage door is open and its great to see the park and have a breeze while working on martial arts. Very professional, consistent, highly highly recommended.
An amazing place to learn Martial arts,
by shytoughguy
An amazing place to learn Martial arts, it has a very traditional and relaxed environment. I've been training at the Chicago Wushu for a a number of years now and I absolutely love it! The school is great! Head master, Sifu Daniel, is an awesome instructor and coach. Martial arts and teaching are his life and it shows in the way he instructs. He's patient, knowledgeable, and is very detailed in demonstrating the moves. All the instructors give the students solid instruction and encouragement as well.
- Pros: Learning authentic Chinese Kung Fu! Awesome Instructors and Environment
- Cons: Minor issues with facilities which are being taken care of and not having more time to train.
