There are five private homes within the Naper Settlement (not all are open for viewing) including an 1830s pioneer home and a farm laborer's cottage. Public buildings include the fort, stonecarver's shop, one-room school, post office, firehouse, print shop and blacksmith shop with several public areas to tour. The Pre-Emption House was the first hotel and tavern west of Chicago and now houses the Naper Settlement Visitors Center. The 1864 Century Memorial Chapel can now be rented for weddings and special events.…
