Rosal's is Wonderful!
by vs12345
A co-worker suggested RoSal's and we went there with friends for my birthday. It was totally worth it. It was just a little noisy, but in a good way: makes you feel at home/with friends and not loud enough to disrupt a conversation. The food was outstanding, grilled calamari are some of the best I've tried and the ravioli are simply the best. The service was wonderful: Linda is a very nice and friendly person who knows her stuff really well. Finally, the coffee and the desserts... M-m-m... I want to go back there NOW :).
By the way, I think it's a great place for a date. Permanently in my bookmarks.
- Pros: The food is amazing!
- Cons: None!
Great ambiance

Wonderful food! Creaky Chairs... LOL

I went here with my lawyer friend for his birthday and found that I could set up a reservation online. VERY easy. There was no wait to be seated.
The staff was very friendly. The food was WONDERFUL. We shared the Grilled Calamari to start. TENDER and flavorful.
I had chicken in a lemon cream sauce that was just amazing. My dessert was the White Chocolate Mousse that was the perfect ending to the dinner.
My father had Veal and the he loved it. He finished with the Lemonchello Ice.
My lawyer had the Linguine Ai Frutti di Mare and he loved it. He finished with the Chocolate… Um… I can’t remember but it was the only chocolate dessert on the menu. I gave the waitress candles and a lighter and the dessert came out and we were able to wish him a happy birthday and it was very nice!
The best part?? THERE WAS NO LOUD MUSIC TO SCREAM OVER! This is the first place in the area I have tried that didn’t have the music up so fu*king loud that you can’t hold a conversation…
I give this place 5 stars because the visit couldn’t have been better! I would give it 10 stars because of the lack of super super loud music.
- Pros: WONDERFUL dinner... WONDERFUL dessert!
- Cons: Chairs are a bit wobbly on the first floor.
Heavy, garlic-infused pastas and meat dishes keep generations coming back to this family-owned cucina.

Family photos line the sage-colored walls at this storefront trattoria in the heart of Little Italy. Vesuvio-style dishes--prepared with lemon, garlic and olive oil--figure prominently into this menu of Italian pasta, seafood and meat offerings. Perfectly portioned starters such as the fried ravioli and calamari won't spoil the main course. Hearty entrees like apple breadcrumb-stuffed chicken breast and juicy chicken Florentine--both tender to the fork's touch--are worth sharing. Downstairs, seniors, kids and parents chat at wooden tables in the glow of white Christmas lights as Sinatra croons the classics. Upstairs, a larger dining room decked in vintage posters hosts psychic readings and recreations of the "Big Night" dinner. Leisurely servers know many diners on a first-name basis.
Great food, atmosphere, just like being at home!

Simply put Rosal's has the best Italian food in town. No one and I mean no one can beat the portions and the price. The service is exceptional. Linda is one of the waitresses there and she is one of the nicest people I know. Joe and Cyndi the owners are great people as well. The food what can you say from the appetizers the to the main dishes all of them are great!...Portabella chicken is one of the best I have ever had. I always say it is to die for it is so good.
- Cons: there really are none in my book
Excellent Food & Service
by sitter0719
This is a really great restaurant in the the heart of Little Italy in Chicago. I have probably been to every Italian restaurant in the area: Tuscany, Rosebud, etc.... They can't touch Rosal's. It has a great cozy atmosphere and the service is wonderful. We had a reservation and were seated as we walked in the door. The waitress was great. She made sure we had what we needed but didn't make us feel rushed. The prices were great. I think the most expensive thing on the menu was a $22 steak. We had the grilled calamari and baked clams for appetizer and both were fabulous. I had the grilled pork chops and my husband got the chicken marsala. Both were cooked to perfection. Two friends had the artichoke rigatoni and the portabella chicken. Both were fantastic. The menu is extensive, with lots of choices for everyone evne my friend a vegetarian. We had the white chocolate mousse with fresh strawberries for dessert and it was to die for. I will definitely reccomend this to anyone and will go back myself. I don't think I will go back to Tuscany's now that I have been here.
- Pros: Great Food, Great Service, Great Prices
- Cons: Nothing!
EXCELLENT!!

Delicious fresh food! Very nice people run this restaurant. The sausage cacciatore was great & service was very good. Nice sized portion and reasonably priced. Hope to be back when visiting Chicago again. Wish they had restaurants like this in NYC.
- Pros: Good Service, Good Home Cooking
- Cons: NONE
Put out a hiring ad and then then started spamming all the respondants
by chicagonatasha
They had an ad on Craigslist that they were hiring. After responding with my resume and receiving no call or email back, I was suprised to see that I had been signed up for their newsletter. After inquiring why and asking to be removed I received a response from Cyndi (who it turns out is the owner, or at least the wife of the owner). She was insincerely apologetic and claimed all the emails for the positions had been sent to the spam folder. Luckily for Rosals they were able to retrieve all these emails after the fact and add them to their mailing list. When I asked why there was no email notification sent to explain why they hadn't responded to the numerous applicants, I couldn't get an answer. Looks more like they are phishing for email addresses than employees.
- Pros: None
- Cons: Spammy, shady, won't explain the situation, Joe that answered the phone laughed at Cyndi and her "schedule"
Great Italian Cuisine at Resonable Prices
by lulucuffs
My husband and I ate here with my parents who were visiting from out of town. We are all used to the great Italian restaurants that are in NYC but we were definitely not disappointed by this restaurant. We all ordered different appetizers and they were served as they were ready, family style, which was great because we all got to try all of the appetizers. The fried ravioli is awesmome! My husband hates ricotta cheese and he loved it. For our entree's three of us had pasta dishes and one veal dish. All of the entree's were great with very different tastes which would make me want to go back and try more new things. The service was extremely friendly and amiable. I would not say that the service was slow as much as I would say it was paced. We were given enough time to enjoy each course and still had time to enjoy each other's company. During dessert they even brought us each a complimentary shot of Sambuca. If I haven't said enough good about RoSal's yet, let me just add that their wine list is also very reasonable. Overall, I would highly reccommend this restaurant to anyone who enjoys great Italian cuisine!
- Pros: Food, Service, Resonable Wine List & Resonable Meal Prices
- Cons: I certainly didn't see any
