Great Happy Hours!

by gingerrogers

Heard from a friend that Alcock's will have an "UnHappy Hour" sponsored by the job site CareerBuilder on on 11th and 12th of Feb. (Monday and Tuesday after the Superbowl)

Rumor is that they're serving free appetizers for an hour around 6 or so!!

The food at Alcocks ain't so great sometimes but it's the perfect place to hang out with coworkers! Free food and amazing drinks so this should be fun!

  • Pros: great for hanging out after work

Neighborhood bar in the Loop

by htebzile

Great place to relax and have a few drinks after work with friends. Laid-back crowd, great jukebox selections and friendly staff.

Crowded, average financial district bar

by dondattabiggy

This place is kind of a messy, sloppy bar but it fun after work. Plenty of traders and financial types, not a bad place, you just dont wanna stay too long.

Rough-and-tumble downtown sports bar plays to after-work, financial crowd.

by Contributor

The Scene
Rowdy workers from the nearby Board of Trade come here to celebrate winnings and lament losses. The decorating scheme is male-college-dorm-room: neon beer signs, Rolling Stones posters and dart boards. Sporadic formica tables and battered bar stools round out the loft-like, no-frills interior. Come 3pm, a stream of partiers in their mid-20s to early-40s wearing rumpled khakis, jeans and sneakers plies endlessly back and forth between the bar. Sports show on a couple of the TVs, but CNN plays on even more, reminding patrons they're never far from world of high finance.

The Draw
Alcock's has a loud, lewd charm that will please mainly the guys, who can let off steam after a hard day in the pits by playing foosball and sipping reasonably priced Jamesons or martinis in plastic cups. The jukebox pounds out rockers by Heart, the Stones, Police and Petty.
