Portillos beef -- too small!

Their beef is average in my opinion, small and expensive! It's around $5 for a small I believe. The only thing special about their beef is that you get really hot peppers instead of the standard giardinera. Stick with the independent joints (Portillo's has Disnified the Chicago eatery experience) and you'll get a better beef.

Hey if I want to visit a museum I'll go to The Museum of Science and Industry but if I want a real Chicago dog I go to a few different places.Portillos is nice if you want to sit and relax eating a dog in a family atmosphere where you'll pay for that look.To get a real dog stop at one of the thousands of hot dog joints all over the city.My pesonal favorite Jacky's on the 5400 block of south Pulaski.These guys can remember 10 orders and never get a single one wrong.The food is better than portillos and when you can get 3 dogs and fries for 3.25$ ,what more can I say.Fast! And here you have a choice,pizza puffs,the best Gyros in town,shakes,burgers,chicken sand.,fish,steak sand,they have something for everyones taste.

Okay, the fries by themselvesare tasty, but would it kill you to put on some Merkt's Cheddar on the fires. The phony cheese product sauce is insulting to true fans! Try U Dawg U instead with two locations in Niles and Northbrook/Glenview for the real deal...

a chain of restaurants with the best Chicago style dog??!! Gene and Jude's for anyone who's FROM the city!!! Nothing against Portillo's, but that's like saying Domino's has the best Chicago-style pizza. I guess it makes sense, though - 5,000,000 Portillo's around and just the one legendary G-n-J's - not bad for a Portillo's-saturated market...

awesome hotdogs. you just crave for more. so plump and juciy.
