I love Portillo's hotdogs. Always just right. The best Italian beef sandwiches, better than Al's #1. French fries are the best. Service is fast.

I have eaten here three times now, with different companions each time: family, coworkers, friends. In each case, we've had a good time here. Yes, it's touristy (and since I don't live in Chicago, I guess I qualify). Yes, it's a chain. But neither of those are necessarily bad. Let's face it, what matters is the food. And the food is pretty darn good. The Italian beef sandwich is awesome. I prefer the Big Beef, with hot peppers. It's a big, juicy sandwich, overstuffed with delicious Italian beef, tender, flavorful, sliced thin and piled high. The gravy (au jus) and giardiniera put it over the top. The french fries are crispy, fresh, and hot. They're crinkle-cut, and delicious. Prices are very reasonable. Overall, an excellent casual spot for delicious food.

• Cons: Sometimes hard to hear order numbers called when restaurant is crowded

was in Chicago for a short time and was only able to get here once. will defiantly go there if I ever get back to Chicago. the italian beef sandwich was great and pretty big too. especially for the price. cool different atmosphere rite down town. will have to try the chicago dog next time. great place.

Best food of my life!!!

I'm from California and last week I went to visit someone in Chicago and the first time we went to Portillo's I was sold. I was there for one week and made my friend take me back two more times. The fries with a side of cheese, yum. The Italian beef (my first) wet, yuuuuummmmm! So juicy. The hot dogs are absolutely to die for and the chilli cheese dogs are sent from heaven! Looooove the chilli cheese dogs. The burgers are amazing, good buns, good meat, good toppings. The beef and cheddar crossiant is sooooo ridiculously delicious, everyone needs to try it! okay now one more thing, the chocolate cake shake, which is not on the menu but they take a piece of chocolate frosted cake and blend it into a milkshake and you eat it with a spoon, and if you love chocolate, shakes, cake, or sweets in general, it is soooo good. I have never eaten so much at a resturaunt in my life. It is perfect portion sizes, and great prices. LOOOOVE it! I can't wait to go back, I am having Portillo's withdrawls.

The best fast food in the country. Best Italian beef in Illinois

I have only been to Portillo's a few times, but my father and my friend were both born and raised in the Chicago area so I am writing this on behalf of them too. Everytime I have been to Portillo's it is fast, hot and fresh, and delicious. My favorite item on the menu is the Combo with Italian beef and Italian sausage. The seasoning in their beef and sausage makes Portillo's the best.

CONSISTENTLY AWESOME

This is one of those "can't miss" places. I have been travelling to Chicago for over 20 years and I have NEVER gotten anything less than GREAT food here. Everything is always fresh and hot, and the flavor is on the money! I always encourage people to eat here and they always thank me later. This place (and the other locations) is truly a Chicago icon. The very best!

Love this place as they have great burgers, dogs, salads and pastas. Don't forget to get a slice of chocolate cake-very heavenly. Never disappoints!!

Best Beef and Fries Ever!!

Hey, I was sad to read that not everyone was raving about the beefs and fries at Portillos. As a kid my parents opened The Ribbery Restaurant which was right next door to the Original Portillos in Villa Park. Even as a child I loved the food at my parents restaurant but more often then not I'd ask my parents for money so I could go next door to get either a beef or a hot dog and fries next door at Portillos. Now I live in Phoenix, I still come home every year and you better believe I head out to Portillos for many of my meals! My friends or family automatically stop there as soon as we are leaving the airport. My mouth is watering just talking about it. The great thing is you can order it and have it shipped to you pretty much anywhere in the U.S. My cousin here in Phx is actually having a "Chicago Party" this weekend and is having Portillos shipped out for the party. Point is... if you want great food and a cool place to go and chill with your friends or family then you cant go wrong with anything off the menu here. My personal favorite is Beef with extra au jus, fries and a root beer If I feel like being especially fat I sometimes order a dog too. YUM YUM YUM nickiinaz@hotmail

The best sandwich anywhere!!!!!!

I looooooooove Portillos Italian Beef sadwiches. They are the absoulute best that I have ever, ever, ever tasted. Oh, and the Beef and Cheddar is awesome, too! You've got to tryit. I usually buy 10 sandwiches when I visit Portillo's. I need enough to last at least three days, (and by that, I mean enough to eat at least two a day), and have to buy enough for my family members. They have to build a Portillo's in Missouri. They know nothing about really good food. I guess i'll just have to move back to Chicago to get my Portillo's fix.
