This is not a "pub"
by hahahaha at Citysearch
For all you crybabies...covers are designed keep out unwanted people like you. Martini has better customers, better bartenders, better music, and better drinks so if you don't like the cover, don't go. Sometimes you have to pay up to get a quality product. If you can't afford the 5-10 bucks, then stay home and watch "Will and Grace" so people who know a good spot can enjoy it.
- Pros: Small and tight-knit
Worst "Martini Bar" in North America
by devlin808 at Citysearch
First off, this is not a "Martini Lounge", it's a Jerry Springer post show hangout. Second, the management treats everyone poorly and has the help do the same. Who charges a cover for a bar past its prime? It's pretty much a bunch of "rich kids" who have no clue running the place. They only want their friends to come in, and if you're not a "friend" of the management they will treat you accordingly, and you won't like it. There are so many great pubs in the city that don't charge a cover, and treat you the way people should be treated, that there is no reason to check this "hole" out.
- Pros: None
- Cons: Miserable
Dark lounge on the fringe of the River North gallery district.

The Scene
Young creative types and businessmen in suits pour in throughout the week. If you're lucky, you'll get a seat at one of the four raised booths. If not, the narrow space doesn't allow much room to stand, much less dance, but that doesn't deter those who feel the rhythm. For some diversion, head to the back lounge and play a game of pool by a flickering gas fireplace and two of the largest lava lamps you've ever seen. The kitchen serves traditional bar food until 3am.
The Draw
Order a cosmopolitan or something shaken from the collection of 40 martinis. The mint-chocolate-chip martini is highly recommended, but go slow--sweetness shouldn't be perceived as innocence, as they can pack a solid punch. There's also a good selection of imports and domestic microbrews on tap.

Poor Service

I visited the Martini Ranch after finishing work this past Friday night, I am industry and was there around 10 pm. The bar was not crowded (4 other customers) but it was impossible to get a drink. After I received my martini (the nuts and berries) I couldnt drink it and ordered another drink. The bartender told me he couldve told me that martini was terrible dumped it and charged me for another drink. Since we couldnt get a second drink we went to another establishment
Good Martinis

Great music too. However, I do have a problem with charging a cover to get in a BAR! These promoters really need to cut that mess out!
- Pros: Martinis, Music
- Cons: Cover charge, No place to dance
