The food here is good, but not anything special. I was a little perturbed at the fact that I was paying $30.00 for a steak, and yet the wine was served to me in a plastic cup.... How 'bout a wine glass for goodness sake! My husband had a good meal also, but again was served a guiness beer in a plastic cup. Not the classiest of places, but just ok... Service was nothing to write home about, but the place was really busy with St. Patrick's day revelers.....

Pros: Very close to Second City, great for dinner and a show

Cons: Overpriced for average food...

Don't waste your time or money. I have never experienced such horrible service. Employees in a drive through are more helpful and cheerful than this place. Not to mention the food wasn't worth the money you would spend in a drive through.

Are you kidding me, Fireplace Inn? This place would be great if everything was priced 50% lower. A crappy boneless rib sandwich that barely out-flavors a McRib is $7.50. Yuck. The BBQ chicken doesn't even come close to competing with much cheaper joints like Hecky's or Feed. Burgers are $10 or more, many dishes are over $20. Not. Worth. It. To top it all off, the waiter threw out the fires and mashed potatoes I wanted to take home when I asked him to wrap my meal up. Do yourself a favor and go to Twin Anchors a few blocks away.

Pros: Good BBQ sauce.

Cons: Bad boneless rib, weird chicken, very overpriced.

Very disappointed in service. Crabby waiter who couldnt understand medium well had to send food back 2 times to get it right. Will never go here again because I didnt get to eat due to my party being done prior to my food being done. Go somewhere and get your moneys worth stay away from here.

Cons: service

If you want to go somewhere after work and grab some dinner with 20 friends or just by yourself you can't go wrong with Fireplace Inn. The staff is just a group of great people who make you feel at home. If you are in to sports they have you covered, there is 30 + tvs to watch your favorite sports on which they are installing the new plasma tvs next month. I highly recommend trying it if you have never been before, its just a great place to eat and have fun...

Pros: Food, People, Service, Great Outdoor Bar!

Cons: No Cucumbers

Living in the neighborhood, I go to the Fireplace Inn quite often. I love it. The ribs are great; it's their claim to fame with good reason. Last saturday I went for lunch and Craig was my very charming and attentive server. I wish he had warned me not to get the boneless rib sandwich. I should have known better just by the name. I was surprised when a tiny slab of processed pork made its home in the slice of french bread. Could be compared to a McRib, but there were no pickles or onion and it was $7.00. Needless to say I will never get that again. It's okay, because the rest of my lunch was one of those "Big A$$" vodka lemonades they serve. I'll probably be back next weekend

Pros: Good service, lots of TVs, Vodka Lemonades

Cons: That horrible boneless rib sandwich

I went here with a few of my buddies last weekend and had a great time! The service was excellent, the atmosphere was fun and the ribs were the best I've ever had. Our server, Nikki was so great! We never had to wait for a drink, she was pleasant and seemed to really enjoy her job which is unusual to find in a server. I will definitely be coming back and would recommend this place to anyone!

From the service to the food, ill never understand why this place is still in business. I have been to bars with better food, and it has been in business since 1969? The salad tasted dirty, the steak was cooked medium well when I asked for medium rare, I didn’t even get the coleslaw that the menu says I get. When I told the server that it was cooked to much he said oh I didn’t notice. When I go to a bar to get a drink I expect service. Vince the bartender looked at me six times in 5 minutes before he finished his conversation with a fellow employee and decided to come over and ask me what I wanted to drink. Bottom line the food is below average and the service is the worst I have ever seen. I have been there a handful of times since I live in the neighborhood with the same results every time. When I asked to talk to the owner Kye (or how ever its spelt) He never came by even though I was told he was there. There are a lot of better places to spend your money.

Pros: Good BBQ

Cons: Everything else is bad

Here is the answer to that annoying question: It's neither a sports bar nor a fancy restaurant! It is simply a hole with semi-decent bar food. It lacks atmosphere and class. Its amazing that such a great street in Chicago has no decent places to eat or drink. If you are looking for an aging crowd, ok bar food and the nastiest restrooms this side of the river then Fireplace is your spot. Overpriced and over-rated!!

Pros: Serves Beer

Cons: Everything else.... what a dump!
