I'm not one to complain about prices in the city. We live in the city to live in the city and deal with an increased price on everything. However, i think it's weird that a taco dish costs over $10 and a burrito dish costs $12. The food was great...especially the salsa! The margaritas were wonderful...I can't give them enough praise. But, though my guest and I had no intention of eating another order of chips and salsa, I've never seen a place charge $3.50 for the second basket. Weird.

Pros: Great tasting food, strong (but not too strong) margarita, and there's something about their salsa that has you craving more

Cons: Price and parking but I doubt anyone from Chicago would actually drive here and try to find parking

The food here is simply RELIABLE. You know when you order that you are getting just good, simple Tex-Mex style Mexican food. It comes hot in huge portions (you would have to be T-Rex to think they're small) and is just simply comforting. There are certainly better options for Mexican food in Chicago but this place is a good one that you can always count on for great service and standard Americanized Mexican food. I mean that in a good way!

Pros: Huge Portions, Reliable, Service

Cons: Americanized, No Parking, Atmosphere

The food was aweful, small portions and poor quality. I've eaten at dozens of mexican restaurants around Chicago and this is definitely the WORST! Bad food, bad service, bad atmosphere, and to top it all off, OVERPRICED!! My dining experience simply kept getting worse. I wouldn't even send my mother-in-law here.

Cons: , bad food, bad service

Great mexican food doesn't come in chains, instead it's best found in small, family operated places that have no pretense -- and Las Pinatas is just that! The margaritas are amazingly tasty (and potent), the chips and salsa, made in their kitchen, are spicy and flavorful, and the entrees superb! Spice it up... this place was around long before Old Town was rediscovered and gentrified. If you need glimmer and gloss, you won't like it here. If for you dining out is about great service and great quality food and drink, and you don't mind plastic tablecloths and moderately tacky decor, get there!

Pros: Delicious Food, Parking Garage/Street, Margaritas

Friendly servers, Best chips and salsa (spicy), BEST maragritas. Inexpensive, fun for groups or romantic for two. Bring the kids if ya want. Great location. NO ONE can TOUCH their Enchildas Nortenas or verdes. I crave this place constantly - have never found anyone to compare!

Pros: Inexpensive, Quick service, Never too crowded

Cons: Parking

The food is great and authentic. The margaritas are SO good. Definitely worth the trip. Take a group of people because the conversations over the margaritas get interesting! The only "downfall" is the service. What some may see as rushed and rude, is actually quite authentic.

Pros: Margaritas, Food, Ambience

Cons: Authentic service
