Best Gospel Brunch!
by GoldenAsh
The Gospel Brunch is the best part of the Sunday experience at the House of Blues. The food is soooooooooooo good, and the simultaneous live entertainment makes the moment even more uplifting and memorable. I definitely would go back on another Sunday.
Best Concert Venue

This location is the best to watch any live band! Great crowd, depending on the show and a historic place to listen to good music.
- Pros: good acoustics
All around great concert experience
by myluckeestarz
I went to the Railroad Earth concert at the House of Blues Chicago last week and it was one of the best shows I've ever been to. Not only did the music sound great, but it was so easy to see the band even though the place was packed and I am short. The acoustics in the venue are incredible and so is all the art work hanging on the walls. There's so much to take in that it made me want to go back just so I can get a better feel for it. My boyfriend and I had dinner there before the concert and I thought the food was excellent; very tasty, moderatley priced, and brought out fairly quickly. The wait staff was also very pleasant even though it was very busy. I would highly recommend the House of Blues, it was an awesome experience for me!
- Pros: delicious food, great staff, cool artwork, fantastic venue
Gospel Brunch Blast
by chigirly
My family came to last Sundays Gospel Brunch and had the best time. Getting into the venue and getting seated was very well organized along with getting our food and Mamosas. The food was out standing along with the sweets table. The hand made omlettes where to die for along with the warm waffles. The performance took my breath away as the Gospels voice were amazing. I cannot wait to go back!
- Pros: Quality food and service
- Cons: NONE
worst venue in Chicago
by plainjae
I've seen security act completely ridiculous at House of Blues Chicago. They are aggressive for no reason on patrons who are much smaller and causing no trouble. It's like they are just waiting to get their pent up aggression out. I was at a concert there last week and witnessed security push a guy from behind and he just went flying across the room. Seeing it was really scary and made me really sick to my stomach.
Besides security sucking, unless you are right in front of the stage you can't really see anything. I've been in the balcony, in the second row and haven't been able to see the stage at all. And that was for a show that wasn't even sold out.
I see a lot of concerts, but I will do everything possible to avoid House of Blues Chicago. THEY ARE THE WORST. I hate that place. House of Blues in West Hollywood on the other hand is totally awesome.
- Pros: It's in an awesome location, right on the river.
- Cons: abusive security, horrible, disorganized staff. Lack of concern for their patrons. Horrible sightlines.
bad time

The House of Blues provided me with one of the worst concert experiences of my life. Take a look through the rest of these comments, they all say the same thing. I was excited about this concert, but left disappointed. I attend dozens of concerts in a year, but I will never step into a House of Blues again.
WORST venue in Chicago
by ihateHOB
This is absolutely the worst music venue in Chicago, if not in the midwest. Anyone who actually likes music should not go anywhere near it. There are no sight lines. The sound is terrible unless you are on the ground floor. (Did I mention no sight lines?) And the security people are absolutely ridiculous. The crowd is full of amateurs. Stay very, very far away.
- Pros: None
- Cons: Bunch of morons, gimmicky
Terrible! Terrible, Terrible
by hobiscorporatescum
The music venue is nice, everything else about HOB is quite miserable.
I went to a show over the summer, and the security staff is one of the worst you will ever have to deal with. These knuckledraggers were roughing up kids left and right for slam dancing. It got to the point where I literally was tempted to jump in, in defense of the kids getting beat up. The whole thing kind of ruined the night for me.
Drinks are way over priced, but what else is new.
Also, do not bring cameras because they are not allowed in, they do not print this on the tickets, so if you bring one you have to check it.
