Sitting in this hotel's elegant lobby, it's easy to imagine the parade of legendary Hollywood stars who've stayed here.

The Scene
Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, Bette Davis, Judy Garland--the list goes on and on. Old Blue Eyes made the hotel his Chicago address for more than 35 years, and his suite is one of 15 celebrity suites where today's guests can hope to feel some residual showbiz aura.
The Details
The 285-room (including 55 suites) Ambassador East recently underwent a $22 million renovation. It's easy to see where the money went. Guest rooms are decorated with beautiful prints and colorful, luxurious draperies, and are equipped with the latest technological upgrades. The 17th floor has an impressive new fitness facility that includes a sun deck.
I didn't want to leave!

I stayed in one of the suites - far too big for one person - two walk-in closets! Very elegent lobby. We had a wonderful meal in the Pump Room. It's close to the Magnificent Mile, the John Hancock Bldg, ESPN Zone. Luxurious, yet comfortable. A wonderful experience!
- Pros: Very comfortable, Friendly staff, Great health club
- Cons: Hidden gift shop, slower check-in
Out of the way

I booked a room here through Hotwire, so it was a bargain at their rates. Nice hotel, but a bit off the beaten path. Not too far from the Division Street crowd, but it is a little north of everything else. They were working on the elevators during my stay, so wait were a bit long! Room was very nice, thoug just a bit tight. The staff was friendly, but not at all helpful when trying to find a self-park spot instead of the $16/day valet parking offered by the hotel.
Suite Stay

We had a great stay with our toddler at the Omni. The neighborhood is beautiful, there was a playground nearby, and overall it was a very nice environment. We got a suite with two rooms on the 12th floor, and a bag of toys for our daughter. Sign up for the preferred guest service and you get free coffee/juice and a newspaper delivered to your room for free. Then, skip ordering any food and get breakfast treats from the Corner Bakery nearby instead.
- Pros: Room size, Value, Location
- Cons: One elevator broken, Exterior construction

I stayed here with three friends for Spring Break and it was better than I ever expected. Great room, great atmosphere, friendly service. Tip: sign up for the "preferred guest" service with Omni to get free newspaper, drinks, comlimentary room upgrade, and 1/2 off a weekend stay.
