We recently stayed at the Omni to celebrate my birthday. We got a good price ($98) on Expedia, which made it a good value. Without the discount, the rating might be different. We arrived at 12 and were able to check in immediately. Our luggage arrived in a just a few minutes from the valet, who also got us ice. The room has a nice, cozy feel to it. The suites are designed in a smart, sophisticated way though not lavish. Everyone was friendly. We didn't get a chance to use room service or other ammenities such as the pool or workout facilities. Check out was very quick. Valet parking was smooth though a little pricey at $35. Enjoyed our stay.

  • Pros: location, room arrangement
  • Cons: expensive parking, dim lighting

The Scene
Business travelers are drawn to the suites in this hotel because they offer lots of space to park one's work gear. They also feature every amenity imaginable, from the standard hair dryers and coffeemakers to voice mail, modems, faxes, video check-out and newspapers. If you're in town to shop on Michigan Avenue, the location is tops.

The Details
Meeting rooms and ballrooms boast names such as Picasso and Chagall, perhaps a nod to the nearby Chicago Art Institute. Non-business features include a pool, Jacuzzi, sauna and health club. Room service is available 24 hours a day, and signature Get Fit kits make it easy to work out in your room. A nice perk during sunny months are the two rooftop sundecks. Guests can walk to the Loop, the Chicago Art Institute, Navy Pier and Rush Street nightlife. Golf and tennis are available nearby.

The rooms at this hotel are fantastic. The bedroom is seperated with french doors. This allows for more privacy. There is a seperate sitting area with a television. The bar and restaurant are also great. Fantastic location for Michigan Street shopping. One my favorite hotels in Chicago

  • Pros: large rooms good location and great bar

In late may, i've paid a visit to Chicago on business for one week. I have read some good things about this hotel so i thought i should try it out (also it is listed in our approved corp travel list). i am quitee finicky when it comes to overnight accommodation so i also try to do ample research on hotels to ensure i have a good stay at a foreign city.

Omni Chicago did not disappoint! every room in this establishment is set up as a suite so you have a lot more space that most hotels offer for a standard room. the flat panel tv was a treat in the living area where there was also a work desk and sofa. The bathroom was immaculately clean, bright and large. Their turndown service was especially sweet with individually wrapped chocolate and a color coded weather card (indicating the next day's weather and temperatue) on the pillow which are indicative of their attention to details.

My stay also included the following amenities (no additional charge):

- wireless internet in the room

- access to gym (not big, but adaquate for a quick workout) as well as pool and jacuzzi

- complimentary 'express' breakfast (allowing you to select from an limited menu offering choices of juice, bagels, and newspaper) delivered to your room at time specified by you

- transport to downtown chicago where my office locates

Not to mention perfect location, right off of michigan avenue for shopping and good restaurant. I did not try their in house restaurant since there are so many other choices near by... but i can't imagine it being too bad. My old "not so perfect" experience was that they mixed up my transporation reservation and about 1/2 hr before my scheduled time, they called me and indicated that the car wasn't available for me (as the person who made the resv for me has double-booked). However the concierge was apologetic got me a cab instead and insistied on paying for the ride.

Omni would be my choice next time again in Chicago!

  • Pros: great location, spacious, great staff
  • Cons: can't really think of any

In Short
A huge window on the east wall offers a sweeping view of the Mag Mile; overhead is a trompe l'oeil mural of blue sky and fluffy white clouds, which brightens the restaurant's dark, clubby feel. The kitchen serves up pastas and seafood plates; it's also one of the few downtown spots where you can have a quiet lunch. Sunday, breakfast buffet tables are piled high with waffles, eggs and sausage, salads, desserts and more.

We celebrated my birthday at Cielo. The restaurant had very few diners at 6 on a Saturday evening. The room is nice, but the lighting could be softer for night dining. We wanted a more romantic experience. I ordered the prefix menu which was a pick of 3 regular menu suggestions ($29.95). My husband and I both had a mozzerella tomato napolean appetizer which was very tasty. He had a seafood sampler ($25), which was very good (nice shrimp). I had a steak that was awful (grissly), so they brought me chicken tortellini (quick recovery), much better. I was given a cheesecake for my birthday that was delicious and beautiful and my husband had tiramisu, also good. Generally, we liked the experience, but if it hadn't been in our hotel, it wouldn't have been my first choice. Price $98 for everything including drinks, tax, and tip.

  • Pros: friendly staff, food presentation, taste
  • Cons: location in Omni, ambience
