The Scene
It's no surprise that this store has been featured in several design publications. Light wood, neutral colors, brushed stainless steel, ribbed glass and meticulously arranged displays create a contemporary, yet elegant look. Find men's clothing on the third floor and women's on the fourth, with an impressive, curving staircase connecting the two. A waiting area with men's magazines on the women's floor makes shopping together easy. Formally dressed salespeople are accessible in every area.
The Goods
The generally conservative clothing takes men and women from office to after-hours to leisure weekends. Women's collections include Eileen Fisher, Yansi Fugel and Michael Stars. Besides straight and simple lines, you'll also find wild and patterned, silky and sexy. Men's clothing begins with savvy suits on the far left and ends with kick-back shorts and T-shirts. Designers include Ermengildo Zegna, Tommy Bahama and Joseph Abboud. Accessorize with belts, cuff links, jewelry, handbags, scarves, ties and hats.

If you have money go else where and if you don't-don't go to Shale. Overstocked with dull private-label goods and overpriced commodity fashion (i.e. Kenneth Cole, Joseph Abboud, Tommy Bahama, etc...) Nordstrom, Dunhill, Bloomies, Paul Stuart, Burberry, Niemans or any other Lincoln/Wicker Park boutique (e.g. Apartment Number) has a better selection/price point/atmosphere/but probably NOT service.
- Pros: Customer Service, Good Basics, Nice Abboud Selectio
- Cons: Customer Sercie, Relatively Expensive, Few Sales
Mark Shale is # 1!

I always find the best clothes at Mark Shale. I'm average size and the clothes I purchase there are very flattering. They are top quality and very fashionable. Almost everytime I wear a Mark Shale item, I receive at least 1-2 complements. It's easier to meet new and exciting people when you look great! Also, the people who work there are very considerate and really do want their customers to look good, so they won't ust sell you something to make a sale. Unlike car sales people, Mark Shale really cares and wants to help its customers find what's right for them. I rate them an 11 on a scale of 1-10, when ten is the highest.
- Pros: Top Quality, Considerate Employees, Looks and Fits Great

Service Means Something

They really do care about service at Mark Shale. The old guys there are kinda scary - like the car salesman who just needs to sell one more car to retire. That aside, if you have money (or really if you don't too) they will take care of you, call you when things come in, ship you things, and follow through. The clothes are more conservative, this is basically your dad's store. Their buyers are weird though, sometimes they get really hip stuff in. Check it out, Shale is a unquie place.
- Pros: Good service, Lifetime alterations
- Cons: Heavy sales force, High prices
